Renovate a tavern, befriend the locals, and let somebody else save the world.

My next project is quite different to most of my previous pieces, but I hope it'll still be of use to many of you. This is an adventure that allows your players to take a break from high-stakes scenarios and deadly foes, and instead focus on renovating and opening a tavern in a small village.

Autumn is in the air, the trees are fringed with gold, and your players have inherited a run-down inn. The building needs to be fixed up in time for the harvest festival, and along the way the players can befriend local NPCs, find suppliers for their new business, and help the village flourish.

You can run this as a standalone mini-campaign, or as part of a larger story. In the latter scenario, the players eventually continue on their travels, with the tavern ticking over as a steady money-maker / player-base in the background. There are some opportunities for combat, but because of the roleplay-focused nature of the adventure, it can be run for a wide range of levels: anything above Level 3, really.

Even if you don't want to run the adventure, the PDF still provides new NPCs, a selection of small side-quests, and a detailed village setting, which can all be woven into other games.

Sounds awesome, just in time for a due break in my longterm campaign

I love everything about this. Can't wait to see it

This reminds me of the memes about level 20 adventurers retiring to run shops and inns. Personally I love the idea of powerful shopkeepers who are capable of providing their own security in dangerous and magical D&D worlds. I would love to see something like this run with a high level party at or near the end of a campaign. 😁
