An updated version of the DMinspo cooking system with new and improved rules.

A few weeks ago I posted a cooking system I had made for my own home games. It was surprisingly well-received, and about 300 new people joined the Patreon as a result! Since then, however, I've thought of several ways that it could be improved, and so today I wanted to post it again, with updated rules and some new content.

The majority of this PDF is the same core system, but there are several new additions:

- New details on cooking time, portion sizes, and other technicalities.

- Rules for ingredients and essential cooking components.

- Advice on integration with the chef feat and proficiency with cook's utensils.

Hopefully this PDF is a little more comprehensive and helpful than the first one. I usually try to avoid re-releasing content, but I felt like there were areas I could improve on here (aaand this weekend was my birthday, so I didn't have as much time to develop an all-new encounter as I usually do).

Enjoy!

I had a question about a particular item in this book, the Dragon's Breath Souffle. I am confused with the wording, it mentions that after eating a souffle, a player gains a breath weapon for 12 hours, but then it says the weapon can be used as an action "Once per Short rest for 24 hours". Does the 12 hour rule override the 24 hour comment, or does the 24 override the 12?

Love the adjustments, I ran doomgrinders cookbook for my group and already have an actual player going to cook some to bring to a session :), worthy of an inspiration point for sure.

Thanks for putting out an updated version of the cooking rules! I liked the original version a lot (I'm probably part of those 300 new subs you mentioned), can't wait to see what these updates entail. Also, your backlog of other content is incredible, as a Forever DM I really appreciate all of the inspo!

Absolutely love the old cooking rules and the new ones! One of my party members is currently using it and loves it. It made the rest of the party want skills of their own and we were able us the format from the cooking rules to create new skills for the rest of the party such as Blacksmithing, Jeweler, and Woodcarver!

Happy birthday dude! Thank you for the epic cook book system, can't wait to implement in my campaigns. I'm still gonna save the old one just in case. Thank you! :3

I haven't tried it yet but what are your thoughts on making the dishes just a little harder to make such as just adding 2 to the dc? Making the early dishes DC 7, it's still a pretty low roll.

One of my players is really excited for this and I think some others will be as well when I introduce it! What are your thoughts on when they fail the check? Do they just not get any food, or would they get a portion of it, depending on how badly they failed?
