For this week's Patreon video, we're going behind the scenes as I make a battle map with Inkarnate. The concept here was to explain my process as I worked, and to show you how a few simple principles (asymmetry, density, and saturation) can quickly take your own map-making to the next level.

Be warned: this is a 20 minute unscripted video, so it's pretty free-flowing and a little longer than some other ones I've done. But hopefully it will spark some ideas as you develop your own skills with Inkarnate.

Enjoy!

My goodness! I would love for a follow up video on how to make world maps in Inkarnate. I can't make anything on a large scale without it coming off juvenile or unrealistic.

I can't believe you did this in 20m... including spending 75% of the time talking to us. Insane, amazing job :)

The longer, the better! Loving these videos 😁

I needed this because I haven't been able to make good maps on it

Great video on making battle maps look great. Perhaps a guide like this but on the larger area maps?

Great tips as usual ! Your maps were actually one of the many things that got me to like your channel and sub to your Patreon, so i'm happy to see they get a dedicated video :D And I second Matt on the world map. That's the hardest thing for me, even down to deciding the shape of it :') Also, another idea, I would love to know how you organize the information about your world(s) (app/software/... good ol pen and paper? :p)

Thank you so much! I have a premium Incarnate subscription but had given up on it a bit lately as I just wasn't making much headway with it. The layering effects are (hopefully) going to be a game changer for me!

Oh wow! This is great. I hope I can make better use of Inkarnate with this guide. (Sorry, I'm late to the party...)

This is the second best video that you have ever made. I thank you for the help and inspiration. Keep up the good work!
