Railroading! It's the cardinal sin of DMing...right? Well, let's talk about it. In this week's Patreon-only video, we're discussing the good and bad sides of guiding your players in specific pre-planned directions.

If you've ever worried about whether or not you're railroading too much, grab a cup of coffee, kick back, and join me as we ponder the big questions of DM life.

Enjoy!

I have never supported a Patreon before but yours has so much value for money that I couldn't not do it. Keep it up!

Loving these Patreon videos! Solid advice as usual ☺️

I'm highly interested in the subject. I always tried to stay away from excessive railroading but also bumped into the problem of how huge of a task could be 100% sandboxing. I humbly think a balance (in general) is advisable. Also, knowing when to do more of the one (railroading) and more of the other (sandboxing) is desirable. Something I realized in the last year or so (because I started playing solo TTRPGs) is that the skills one develops by playing solo (or DMless) end up being useful for sandboxing i.e. solo sort of develops some "muscles" that make one less slave of railroading. Thanks for the video, Vinnie

I want werewolf mills and weird old men under bridges!

I guess I'm doing good railroading. My players ruin my planned moments all the time. 😆
