A special double-length chapter, just for my patient patreon supporters.  This would have been up yesterday, but it kept growing and growing.  I'll see about having another update out as a Christmas present for everyone as well.

Once again, best wishes for the holiday season and my greatest gratitude for your support!

Industrious Chapter 11-20

Chapter 11: I clenched my fists so hard each knuckle popped in sequence as I stared at Obito, my eyes tracking him off to my right side and my face blank. The obvious answer to his thrown gauntlet was to refuse.

Scott W. Pike

Is anyone else a little strange about the fact that all of his students are female ninjas and not any of the male ones?

Slayer Anderson

In-universe, it's a question of trying to get pre-teen boys to acknowledge that someone their own age actually has something to teach them. The only two who might be up for it in the core cast are Sakurai and Shikimaru, though the former is kind of timid and the latter would have to be motivated to do so. Chouji is too reliant on clan techniques, Kiba is the same but with an added bad attitude... there are more problems with getting the guys in the study group, though they *will* make an appearance later. Much to Kota's annoyance.

serguzzle

Note: naruto's problems with the clone technique were not that he was overloading it, but under loading it because he didn't have a very good grasp of the balance of the technique (i.e. control). Presumably he had shitty sensitivity to how much he was driving the technique so his minimum chakra bit he could apply was a significant fraction of the actual technique's total cost. Density and volume were part of it, sure, but the fundamental problem was still control.

Mario Nunez

Lee would definitely be one of the few willing to learn from a fellow young person since it would be the youthful thing to do. Most of the rest of the main cast would definitely be too arrogant for that.

Kahliel

You motherfucker! That cliffhanger was brutal lmao! Loving the story tho.

Johny5

What the hell? Challenged by both Gai and Lee? Is Gai that eager for sparring or is Lee pissed someone who's in the same boat as he is gave up. As for the cliffhanger? Either Narumi/Naruto succeeded in performing the kage bunching and that's just a shutload of clones Kota's surrounded with, or we have a leak of Kyuubi Chakra. Happy holidays to you too!

Slayer Anderson

Red would be kyuubi, not orange. As to Gai & Lee? Not at the same time.

Johny5

Ah, ok then on the first. On the latter, that is still overkill. I guess Gai and Lee really did need to check whether what he was teaching Tenten was truly worth it.

Slayer Anderson

An addendum now that I have a proper keyboard instead of my phone: Lee's not angry that someone in a similar situation to him gave up because Kotaro has a good reason for doing so. If Kota didn't, Lee would have some harsh words, but as it is he's happy to see Kota isn't wasting his potential and languishing. Gai just wanted to push Kota to his limits personally to see how far he could go. Kind of a professional curiosity.

Vanathor

has Gai figured out how nuts Prana Bindu is yet?

Slayer Anderson

Not in so many words, but he does understand that there is something very strange about Kota and his movements.

Vanathor

Also: once Yakumo finishes learning Prana Bindu it seems like she would be a candidate to learn Cognitive Performance Enhancements that Kota grabbed early on. Is that accurate?

Slayer Anderson

If they have time, Kota might pepper some of that into her training.

Johny5

Got it. That's all things covered then.

Tyric Gaias

What's Kota aversion to being called sensei? I mean that's exactly what he is at this point.

Slayer Anderson

The issue is that being called 'teacher' indicates you're an authority on any given subject and know enough to teach someone your skills. Kota gets irritated with it because he's teaching them *combat* skills, which indicates his actual capability in the ninja arts when he's trying to mostly stay out of the spotlight.

Tyric Gaias

Ah. Makes complete sense. Thanks for the clarification

Bob Saget

*looks at list of boys Slayer gives examples for* *Shino mopes in a corner as he is, once again, forgotten*

Slayer Anderson

Shino is in the same clan technique boat as Kiba, with a much better attitude albeit.

Bob Saget

I wonder what the advantages of using the metal plate with shunshin on it are over using the long form technique in his head. More chakra efficient, faster activation, more powerful version of the technique, less chakra residue, less mental concentration? Or maybe he's doing the mental long form on top of the plate, and he's using the plate to cut out the hand signs?
