Unedited/Unbeta'd. You know the drill. Seth lazily ran his fingers over the surface of the bath's tepid water. The only thing keeping him from shivering was the overheated alpha behind him. He’d convinced Saint to shower with him, soothing him and grounding him back to reality as much as he could. He was coming around gradually. When they were no longer caked in blood and body fluids, he’d coaxed him into the bathtub. The water would have grown cold if not for his alpha’s fever. Though he no longer seemed as agitated, he was still breathing heavily, still on high alert. Seth had convinced him that there was no immediate threat, but it was clear that the alpha pacing inside Saint was still telling him otherwise. Seth probably should have been afraid, but instead, he was…happy? No. That wasn’t really the right word. He wasn’t happy that Saint was suffering. At all. He hated that something he’d done had sent his already fragile alpha into a tailspin. But everything Saint had done, he’d done to protect Seth. When he’d first tied him up, he’d been certain that he had nefarious intentions. That maybe he’d somehow truly snapped. But it had become clear, even to Seth’s heat-addled brain, that Saint wasn’t angry, he was afraid. While it was true he’d mauled him a bit, mostly he’d been…sweet. When he thought Seth was scared, he’d buried him in Saint’s clothes so he was surrounded by his scent. When he thought he was hungry, he’d feed him in bite-sized pieces. When Seth’s heat had him presenting and begging for pups, Saint had delivered every time. Enthusiastically. Saint wanted to keep him safe, to keep him close. Because, to Saint, Seth was the most important thing in the world. Just thinking about it was bringing tears to Seth’s eyes. He’d never been anyone’s most important anything. But, somehow, this beautiful, protective, painfully soft alpha loved him over all other things…even the other members of the pack. Seth didn’t want Saint suffering. He didn’t want him sad or scared or hurting. But there was something soothing about knowing that Saint would stand between him and hell if he had to. He’d always protect Seth…and their babies no matter the cost to him. He would do the same, but no matter how much Saint loved and indulged him, some part of him had always whispered that Saint had settled for him. But not now. Not after the last…week? Had it been a week? Longer? Seth honestly wasn’t sure how much time had passed. He took Saint’s hand from the side of the tup and placed it over his belly. Something thrilled in him, making him feel like his heart was fluttering around in his chest like a caged bird. He looked pregnant. It was obviously an optical illusion. Part of it was simply hormones, some was swelling from his heat, some of it was the sheer volume of cum still inside him. That should have been gross but, again, it just made him feel loved…wanted. Seth’s grandmother was right. He really was selfish at heart. Saint made a sound like a low rumble, then his fingers began to trace patterns over Seth’s swollen abdomen. Would Saint hate him for this? Would he be angry with Seth for not telling him about the meds? He hadn’t done it maliciously. When Fenny had warned it might make things more intense, he never thought it would go that far. Would Saint care about Seth’s excuses? He hadn’t been thinking about anything past having a baby…or two. Could there be more than one in there? Was there even one? This is why he was selfish. If this created a baby, then any scars that remained were worth it. He wanted a tiny little piece of them, some evidence of their love for each other. Was it crazy to say he’d do it again? He’d tell Saint this time. Let them make the choice together. But he knew, deep in his core, that Saint wouldn’t have refused him. That he would have said it was worth the risk. Because for some reason, Saint really truly did love him. Even now, despite Seth’s swirling fears of Saint’s possible anger over the pills, deep down Seth knew he would act as if it were nothing. He’d say there was nothing to forgive. Because Saint was the softest alpha in the world when it came to Seth. Even though Saint would stand by him, he still had to explain this to the others. The bites, the bruises, the claw marks, those weren’t exactly uncommon after an alpha and omega’s cycles synced, but the restraints? The abrasions on his wrists and ankles? They were a combination of friction burns and actual open wounds. And they stung. Not much, but enough. It was no more than he deserved for putting Saint through this, but the others were going to freak out. Seth just didn’t know who would be on the receiving end. Hopefully him. He was sure Fen had already told San and the others. But it was clear even they couldn’t have fathomed just how off the rails this had gone. They’d never even asked for a verbal confirmation. Of course, once Seth was deep into his heat cycle, his ability to converse shrunk down to five things. Please, alpha. Give me your knot. Give me your pups. More, alpha. Thank you. “Do you think it took?” he heard himself ask. “How could it not?” Saint asked, voice still raw, wrecked, creaky from disuse. “I hope it did,” Seth said, words clotting in his throat like wet sand. “If not, we’ll try again. It’ll happen,” Saint said, almost like he was on auto-pilot. Seth couldn’t take it anymore. He moved away, then turned around, sliding his legs over Saint’s so he could keep him close. “I have something to tell you.” Saint stared at him with dull, glassy eyes, then lifted his hand to rake his fingers through Seth’s damp hair, pushing it from his face. “Okay.” It was obvious he was still distracted, still…unwell, but he was with it enough to comprehend what Seth was saying. “Its okay if you get mad at me once I tell you…but…please don’t leave me over this,” Seth managed, his voice trembling. Saint frowned, finally looking Seth in the eye, a low angry sound erupting from his chest before he grumbled, “Don’t even joke about that.” Seth shook his head. “It’s…it’s not a joke.” He took a deep breath and let it out, feeling like his insides were quaking. Even though he knew Saint would forgive him, there was always that sliver of a chance that he wouldn’t. And then what would Seth do? Die, probably. “I’m the reason you feel like this.” “Like what?” Saint asked, his large hands still petting over Seth’s hair and his face, handling him like he was made of glass.“Like-Like…this,” he gestured vaguely. “Scared, paranoid. The reason you think people are going to hurt me. It’s my fault. I…did this to you.” “What are you talking about?” he mumbled, his tone dismissive, like touching Seth like he was precious was more important than anything he had to say. Seth grabbed Saint’s wrists, pulling his hands down beneath the water to hold them. “Can you look at me, please?” Saint’s gaze fell to his obediently. God, Seth loved this man so much it hurt. “Remember when Fenny wanted to talk to me that day? The day they came back from Veritas?” Saint grunted in the affirmative, using Seth’s hands to pull him closer until their bodies were flush. He should have pulled away, but instead he wrapped his arms and legs aorund the alpha, letting him push his face into Seth’s neck. He could feel the tickle of Saint’s lips on his mating mark. It made his insides feel squishy. “Are-Are you listening to me?” Seth asked breathlessly. “Mm-hm,” Saint said, tongue darting out to lick over the wounds there, teeth marks. Seth’s belly swooped, his cock taking interest in the way Saint’s warm, wet tongue lapped at him. “Win sent him home with drug samples…heat inducing medications. She-She said they were perfectly safe, that they were about to go live on the market any day now.” Saint nuzzled just behind his ear, then kissed his jaw. Seth’s eyes rolled with pleasure, his tongue darting out to wet his chapped lips as he tried to concentrate. “She said the meds would throw me into my heat cycle in hours, that the only real side effects were a longer heat and that the alpha—you in this case—would possibly be more intense than usual…or something like that.” “Uh-huh,” Saint prompted, biting his chin. “And I took them…before I came back. And I think they…broke your brain a little bit.” Saint’s mouth closed over his in a lazy kiss, tongue dipping in to tease his own, his hands slipping free of Seth’s fingers to tangle in his hair. “Are you…are you even listening to me?” Seth whispered against his lips. “Mm,” Saint said, nipping his cracked lips. “You took some meds to help you get pregnant and they had some side effects.” “That seems like a bit of an oversimplification,” Seth said, feeling weirdly offended that he was dismissing it so easily. “I should have at least told you.” Saint broke the kiss to mouth over the other side of Seth’s neck. “You don’t smell like me now that we’ve showered,” he complained grumpily. “There’s no possible way that’s true,” Seth whispered. “People are going to smell you on me—in me—for weeks.” “Wanna bite you again,” Saint said, forcing Seth’s neck to the side. “Wanna sink my teeth so deep everyone will know you’re taken.” Saint dragged his tongue over the raw skin once more. It was already open, the tissue around the puncture wounds swollen and discolored from being opened repeatedly. Every single time Saint had fucked him from behind, he’d sank his teeth in, holding him in place as he used him, growling if he thought for a second Seth was trying to escape. That Seth was tied to the bed, didn’t seem to occur to Saint in those moments. “Do it, if you want to, alpha,” Seth said. “I don’t mind.” Saint growled. Seth yelped as sharp teeth sank into tender flesh, but his cock also hardened immediately, slick leaking into their bath water. He would let this man eat him alive and say thank you with his dying breath. Fuck. He could feel Saint was hard too. He didn’t even think about it, just lifted up and sank down on his cock, both of them groaning as Saint filled him. It was lazy, slow, more just wanting to be together than actually trying to get off. Seth just rocked against him, his own length trapped between them as Saint licked at his claiming bite. They were both coming out of the haze of their cycle, but the need to cling to each other was the last thing to go, if it ever went at all. “Maybe we should talk about this in a couple of days when you’re clear-headed,” Seth gasped. Saint grunted, his hands sliding to Seth’s hips, squeezing tightly as he held him in place to fuck into him a little faster. “Did you think it might fuck me up in the head?” Seth gasped, burying his face in Saint’s throat, licking the beads of water from his skin. “I…of course not.” “Then why would I be upset? If you’d discussed it with me, I would have told you to take them. I never say no to you. The outcome wouldn’t have been any different.”Seth had thought the same thing himself, but hearing Saint say it made him want to cry. He didn’t deserve this man. At all. He loved him so fucking much. “Are you…at least feeling better?” Seth asked, fingers digging into the muscles of his shoulders as he continued to taste him. Saint made a noncommittal sound, then said, “I still hate the idea of you leaving this room. My alpha is still telling me that everyone outside that door wants to take you from me. I feel a little…clearer…but the paranoia is still there, like bugs under my skin. The urge to run until my legs give out is still sitting there in the corner of my brain.” Seth nodded, pulling back enough to find his mouth with his own, whining when Saint immediately opened for him. For a few minutes they just lost themselves in each other, water lapping dangerously at the sides of the tub as Saint bullied his knot past Seth’s abused rim. Once they were tied together and Seth could think again, he asked,“Can we…can we talk to the pack? Together? I think you’ll feel better once we all spend some time in the group nest. I think your alpha is…overriding your pack bite. We need to get out of this room. Would that be okay?” Saint stiffened at this, his lips still pressed to Seth’s bite. Seth tried again. “Please, baby? For me? Deep down you know they’re not going to hurt me or take me away from you. Right? I need Ollie. Someone needs to help me dress these wounds, right? You don’t want them to get infected, do you?” For a moment, Saint said nothing. Seth waited him out, just feeling his breath against his neck. “Fine,” the alpha finally muttered. “But I won’t let them take you from me.” Seth laughed softly. “I would never let that happen. I’d fight them all if I had to.” “Okay,” Saint muttered into his skin. When Saint’s knot went down, Seth went up on his knees to put some distance between them. “Can we get out now? My fingers are getting pruny.” Saint nodded, expression grim. “Yeah, little one. We can do that.” Seth let Saint stand first, taking his hand when he offered it. When Saint offered to dry him off, he let him, making eye contact with himself in the mirror, then wincing at the damage to his body. Seth liked it. He probably sounded crazy, but he did. He liked looking at the bites, poking his bruises, feeling the evidence that his alpha had used him so thoroughly. But, at first glance, it was startling. The others would be…concerned. The bruises weren’t just mouth and finger shaped. He could see entire handprints on his hips, on his throat… across his mouth. Seth didn’t remember much of the last however many days, his omega had fully taken over, but it was clear that their time together had been…violent. Seth’s gaze fell to his belly. But had it worked? They padded into the bedroom naked. Seth made Saint open the windows and turn on the lights. They cleared the bed, dismantled the nest, then changed the bed pads and sheets. Once they were done, Seth pulled Saint down onto the clean linens, a feeling of calm overwhelming him. Saint still seemed out of it, but not as paranoid or agitated as he’d been an hour ago. The alpha didn’t lay beside him, but instead curled up on the bed like Wolf did, putting his head in Seth’s lap. His fingers slid into the alpha’s hair, petting him just as he would their three-legged pet. He took his phone from the nightstand. Once more, Saint stiffened. Seth continued to stroke him. “It’s gonna be okay, baby. Promise. Just rest.” The tension melted from Saint and, within minutes, he was snoring softly in his lap. How long had he gone without sleep thinking he needed to protect him? He looked terrible as well. His face was drawn, eyes hollow and bloodshot, his lips equally chapped. They’d both had a rough—he glanced at the date on his phone—week. A rough week. Seven whole days had passed. Seth remembered nothing. Clearly Saint had fed him, let him go to the restroom. But afterwards, he must have tied him up again. Maybe Seth would feel something more if he could remember it, but he just didn’t. Once he was sure Saint was sleeping, he opened his messaging app, starting a group without Saint. He had no idea how to start the message. Seth: Don’t freak out. Immediately a dozen dots started dancing before his eyes. Ollie answered first. Ollie: Mark this down as the number one way to make someone freak out.Seth rolled his eyes. Of course that’s how Ollie would respond. Fen: What?! What’s wrong? Are you okay?Loch: Did something happen?San: Do we need to pull you out?Binnie: We can come get you. We’re right next door. Deke: What’s going on? So much for nobody freaking out. But if Seth had been in their shoes, he probably would have freaked out too. He took a deep breath and let it out, smiling a little when Saint burrowed his face deeper into Seth’s belly with a sleepy noise of complaint. Seth: You know how I took those meds that Win gave Fen? Deke: I knew that bitch couldn’t be trusted. What happened? What’s wrong?Fen: Oh, no. I feel terrible. This is all my fault. Seth huffed out a laugh. He’d known that Fen would blame himself. Loch: You don’t even know what happened yet, Sunshine. Breathe. And that Loch would tell him to hear Seth out. His pack was so predictable. He really loved that about them. It soothed his ragged nerves. Seth: Saint kind of lost it for a few days.Loch: Define lost it?Fen: What? Why didn’t you say something?San: Yeah, we could have helped. Binnie: I’m with Loch. Define lost it. I’m reserving judgment until I know the whole story.Seth: I’ll preface this by saying the drugs definitely work. I went into heat almost immediately. Within hours.Binnie: I feel a but coming.Deke: But…Seth: But it triggered Saint’s PTSD and OCD. He thought people were trying to take me from him. He thought you guys were dangerous. That you were going to take me from him because he was dangerous. He barricaded us in and blocked out the windows. Loch: Oh, no.Seth chewed on his lip. He didn’t want to tell them about the restraints. Would that be a step too far? No. He knew their pack wouldn’t blame Saint, but still. When he was silent for too long, another text came through. Binnie: What aren’t you telling us?Fen: Are you okay for real?San: Yeah, how bad is it?Seth: You have to promise me that you won’t be mad at him.Ollie: Yeah, I’m definitely freaking out now. Do you need a bandaid or a hospital, Seth. What happened!Seth’s heart rate spiked, causing Saint to shift in distress once more. Seth combed his fingers through his hair until he calmed once more. Seth: Promise me or I’m not coming out.Loch: We promise. We weren’t going to be mad at him anyway. Just tell us your okay.Seth: I am. I’m totally okay. It just maybe won’t look like that when you see me.Fen: Why is that? What do you mean, Seth? Oh, my God. Just tell us. This is freaking me out. Seth: He kinda sorta tied me to the bed for the last week or so to make sure that I didn’t try to leave the room where you or others could potentially hurt me.Binnie: Oh, my God. San: How bad is it? Seriously, do you need a hospital?Seth: I said don’t freak out. This is freaking out. I just need Ollie and his medical kit. I got Saint to open the windows and change the sheets. He’s sleeping right now…finally. I don’t remember much. My heat was intense. But when Saint pulls out of this entirely, he’s going to crash out. You know how sensitive he is. He’s gonna hate himself for this and act like he’s a monster. Loch: Fuck. Seth’s right. It’s Saint we need to worry about.Fen: He tied Seth to a bed. For a week. And we didn’t even notice. San: To be fair, Seth did text pretty regularly until he had total heat-brain. Seth didn’t feel the need to tell them that they were actually talking to Saint. It didn’t matter. Not anymore. They could be mad at him for not asking them to come save him instead of mad at Saint for having the wherewithal to fake being Seth to keep them from intervening. It was fine. Loch: Do you want us to come in and get you now?Seth: Not yet. Can you guys just prep the pack nest? And can someone make me something to eat? I’m fucking starving. San and Binnie’s messages came through at the same time, making Seth smile. San: On it. Binnie: Of course. Seth: I’m gonna let Saint sleep for a bit then we’ll come out. He’s gonna need a lot of support after this.Fen: ❤️🩹San: We got this. 💪Ollie: We’ll take care of him. He’s gonna be okay.Binnie: I don’t know if it’s in poor taste to ask this so soon but do you think it worked? The meds? Do you think you’re pregnant? San: Binnie! Binnie: What? More babies is never a bad thing. Seth’s heart squeezed. Binnie was the best. Their pack had the most un-alpha alphas and Seth loved them for it. He loved their pack, their home, their fucked up little lives. Even with Veritas, even with Dresden, even with dozens of fuckin super-villains running around disguised as politicians. Josh’s death had been the catalyst to all of this. Somehow, in death, Fenny’s brother had made sure they found each other. Seth: I hope so. I really hope so.
