Trigger Warning for talk of animal death
I know I've been quiet this week but life is currently running me over in every way. I know I say that a lot but holy fuck is it coming for me this month. The kids are moved out, but the house is in disarray due to hundreds of boxes for ApollyCon, my office furniture is finally being delivered today but will take a day or two to set up.
In the midst of trying to get my dog all his shots for the boarding place while I'm at ApollyCon, the vet discovered my dog has a double ear infection caused by yeast overgrowth (not a big deal in the grand scheme of things) and now, twice a day, he gets two separate medications, food that costs a fortune, medicated wipes and 2-3 baths a week with medicated shampoo.
The food is forever, further allergy testing is necessary but hopefully, the meds and bathing frequency is temporary.
As if that weren't enough, my cat, Sushi, who is so tiny and frail and just six years old, has gotten to the point where her asthma is so bad we need to have her put down. We've known it was coming since they told us that her inhaler and steroids weren't working anymore but its still hitting all of us hard.
She almost died two years ago from the same condition. Technically, she did die due to an allergy to anesthesia and they had to resusitate her. At this point it just seems cruel to keep her going when she can barely breathe, has problems bathing herself, eating, using the litter box, etc. They said they could run more tests but the ones they need to do require anesthesia and that was the cause of her rapid decline the first time so what can we do? So they're coming to the house to put her down next Tuesday. I feel like a monster because she's the sweetest cat. But I don't know what else to do.
So, yeah. I'm...kind of just spiraling a bit. I'm still working but I'm distracted and exhausted. I like writing because it usually gives me something to concentrate on besides (gestures to everything) the world being on fire but I'm really having a hard time concentrating or even getting out of bed. But I have no choice just like the rest of the world.
That's whats happening with me right now.
