Guys...its been a very long month.

April sucked.

We didn't put my cat, Sushi down the day we were supposed to. My daughter changed her mind at the last minute and just couldn't do it. She hoped she'd recover. But she didn't. She didn't improve, so we put her down today about an hour ago, after a lot of tears.

I have been sick for three weeks. I survived ApollyCon by consuming dayquil and nyquil round the clock and by sleeping every second I wasn't on a panel or signing books. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and I'm so happy that I went, but I got way sicker the minute I returned.

I'm not gonna lie.

I'm kind of in a weird place mentally.

I have an appointment with my psychiatrist this week because I'm kind of at the end of my rope personally and professionally. I've bitten off way more than I can chew in every sense. I need to make a decision about what book I finish first because right now I'm just inching along with six different projects instead of just finishing one so Liam can start recording.

I feel like I'm always whining to you guys, but I really am just trying to make everyone happy but instead I feel like I'm standing on quicksand.

I had planned to write all week, and I did, but i didn't finish a single chapter. My brain is just fried. I feel like I'm literally letting everyone down including my cat, who had no idea what was going on. Ugh.

I know this is all over the place but I just want you to know that I'm trying my best to get it together and come up with a plan so I can finish a book and give you guys the content you need. Please just continue to be patient with me. I really appreciate it.

Rana J.

Take your time, sending love and support to you and your family! 💚 we all struggle sometimes, I for one don’t feel like you complain to us so much as you make us feel not alone when life beats us down too. Thank you for sharing you 💕

Kristine 💜

First, I am so sorry for your loss. Second, it’s okay. We have all been there. Take time to rest and recover. Maybe consider a pause on Patreon for a month or two? We will all be here waiting for you to return and you will have some time to take a break and then get back into the swing of things. The most important thing is your health. If we can do anything, let us know. Hugs and get better vibes coming your way.

Rachel

I’m so sorry about your kitty. It sucks, even when you know you’re doing the right thing for them. Sending you lots of love. Take care of yourself first and foremost. We feral little gremlins can wait until you are ready and in a good place.

Chad

Take the time you need to heal and practice to self-care. We adore and appreciate you always. We’re not going anywhere. Sending you all the positive and healing vibes!

Shelby Holder

Take care of yourself, girl! We will be here always so don’t get so overwhelmed you feel that you are drowning! Write whatever sparks joy because we will read all of it and if you need to take a break please do! Feel better and I’m so sorry about your kitty. Pet deaths are so hard! ❤️❤️❤️

Sapphire

I think many will agree, that we would be more than happy to receive less now, if it ensures your health and wellbeing, which means we could have more from you long term. It’s not exactly a chore to reread your amazing stories while we wait ❤️ Take care of you first. You can’t set yourself on fire to keep everyone else warm. Take some time, so you are strong for you and your family, then your created world/us :p

Cathy Heim

Take some time off! Get healthy and let your brain breathe!

Your Favorite Fable

I'm sorry for your loss. You're allowed to rest and I hope your able to take some time for yourself to be able to grieve and heal. I for one, am not going anywhere!

Melissa Cuerrier

Hello! I’ve never commented before but I wanted to say even though you feel like you’re in a weird place, you’re doing all the right things and you have a good plan. You’re seeing a psychiatrist, you know you are going to pick one book and focus on that, and you know you need a break in order to recover from a physically AND emotionally AND mentally stressful time. Take the time you need. Follow your plan. Know that a lot of people support you. 🩵

Dina

Thank you for sharing. Your mental, physical and emotional health and over all well being are the most important things. Your characters and their stories will be there waiting for you just as your readers will.

Kerry Frisina

While we are waiting for the next book, we don't want it at a cost to your mental & physical health. We'll wait. We know you always make it worth it. We all understand prioritizing yourself to heal. We love you, take all the time you need. You know we love to reread/relisten. Sending good vibes and mental 🫂! ♥️🥰

Nic

I'm so sorry about your cat x Please take some time off - the world won't end and nobody will die x We love you and we'll all be here when you come back x

AllThatJaz

Your health comes first!. Get those vapor shower pods. I swear by them. And I always love doing Lego sets to give my brain a rest

Lindsay Katzer

I hope you have some summer holiday planned.

Jessica Kaufman

So sorry about your cat and please take your time and recover from traveling, apollycon, and everything else that is going on, your health and mentality comes first

Amelia

your wellbeing comes first. 🥨🥨🥨

B Johnson

As a long time fan I’ve always LOVED your books, and I stand in awe of how each story is so unique and engaging (and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ABO stuff). So if it comes tomorrow, next year, or 10 years in the future I will continue to consume anything and everything you choose to give us 🤓🤓 I’m so sorry for your loss, and I wish you and your family so much health and happiness ✌🏽

Lynda

Losing a family member is so hard. I'm sorry you are going through that. Would taking a month off help? Could you just push everything aside and focus on rest and renewal? I'm not mentally able to completely stop and rest so I know if I try I have to fixate on something. Last time I tried I repeatedly played a game where you had to match 3 items and clear the screen. So, do what you need to do. It's not like we are going anywhere. Besides the The Vampire Lestat starts in June and I'm going to be busy fixated on that. Lol

Lauren Sanders

I am so sorry about your kitty. Pets really become family and losing one is so tough. That said, it sounds like you need to focus on you! We'll still be here to read no matter when you finish. Perhaps pick whichever single book is really speaking to you and concentrate on that?

Kelly M Tuanau

That's what we're here for 💚🧡whine to us all you want 🥰i can't speak for everyone but for myself I can wait forever for anything you give us without complaints🤗im chill like that😅

Onley James

The idea of taking time off terrifies me

Candi Costain

We will be here waiting for you and your work. Take care of yourself and your family. Give yourself grace.

Avery

Onley, I’m really, really sorry. That kind of loss is awful, especially when you were holding onto hope for a different outcome. Sushi was loved, and she knew that, truly. And everything else hitting at once… being sick for weeks, pushing yourself through ApollyCon, trying to carry so many projects and expectations at the same time, that’s enough to drain anyone completely. It doesn’t sound like you’re failing, it sounds like you’ve been pushing way past your limits for a while and your mind is finally asking for a break. And I just want you to know, from someone on the other side of your work, you’re not letting people down. Your stories genuinely help more than you probably realize. Anytime I get a Patreon notification for Warlock/Fighter or Learning Curve or honestly anything at all, whatever kind of shitty day I was having instantly feels a little lighter. Like I can breathe again for a bit. I’ve had stretches where everything piles up and it feels like quicksand too, so hearing you say that really hit. You’ve already given so much just by creating what you have. Please take care of yourself first, go at your own pace, and give yourself some grace. We’re not going anywhere 🤍

Lynda

Is it the fear of not being able to create or the quiet? Cause even when it's quiet there is a three ring circus going on in my head.

Fyrebanshee

you are letting anyone down, you’re wonderful and human and deserve some time to rest and grieve and recover. and to rearrange project priorities when it’s too much. i can’t imagine how writing 6 books at once would not be burn-out city for anyone, truly 🫂 thank you for being vulnerable with us and sharing your struggles. i will light a candle for Sushi and i’m sending you and your family love and light and peaceful vibes✨🖤

Noreen Olmsted

Wishing you the best. Maybe pick whatever book is exciting you to work on. Or take a break from them all and just relax for a bit. We will wait. 💖

BrooketheGryffindork

That’s a lot for anyone to deal with. You’re not letting everyone down, I think it’s a great idea to commit to one book, especially because it’ll feel like you’re accomplishing more with the end of each chapter, even though you get as much done when you work on multiple pieces but don’t finish any chapters, it doesn’t feel the same. Selfishly I hope you choose Lake or Cree 👀 but focusing on one sounds more like you structuring your schedule in a way that fits how your brain works specifically instead of how you think your schedule should look according to everyone else. Hope everything goes well with your appointment and it help make things a little easier 🤗

LausBookRambles

At the end of the day we want you healthy and happy. taking care of yourself is your number one priority. We will survive waiting a little longer for books, you already spoil us a lot!

Quinn Houlihan

Your health matters more than any expectations we have. You have to take care of you first. We aren't going anywhere. Its okay (and actually good) to take breaks to rest your mind (wise advice from my grad school advisor that has saved me from burnout, so far). Sending 🫂

Quinn Houlihan

Also, I am so sorry about your cat. Its heartbreaking to lose a pet 💔

Dee Slate

Please look after yourself ❤️ You have loads of books to introduce to new readers and loads for us fans to reread. Take good care!

Lori Murray

So sorry about your loss and being sick. I definitely understand if you just need to take a breather. I love your books. And I know I am not going anywhere. Your physical as well as mental health is much for improvement.

JunkAnimeGRX

Agree. April sucked. Take all the time you need. I/We will still be here. Please stay strong. Sending much love and respect.

Christina Overholt

I'm sorry about your pet and your struggles. Once you take some time to destress after such a big trip - and talk to your mental health people - I hope you can figure out which project is speaking to you the most and follow that rabbit hole where you want to go. After all, it's your job and your final decision. It might be a better idea than trying to write so many books at once. It sounds like you may be missing the satisfaction of *finishing* a project since they're all up in the air, too. Much love from internet-land.

Charlie459!!

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a member of the family is always so difficult. Take your time getting your mental and physical health back on track we don’t want a new book at the expense of it !! We will all be here waiting for you when you’re doing better 💕💕

Erin

Somebody already said, but you have a giant catalogue for us to revisit. Plus I’ve been so excited reading new works in progress I haven’t finished the final product of Barbarian or Ranger! This will give me time to catch up 😂 In all seriousness though, your mental & physical health is top priority- hope you’re doing better soon.

Heather Allred

Everyone needs a break from work sometimes so make sure you give yourself a break when you need it- burnout is the worst!

Jessica Sells

So sorry for your loss😭 and girl, TAKE CARE OF YOU!!!! YOU matter more! Books can wait! Sending you all the love💜

Jayce

Oh Sushi 😔 im so sorry for you and your familys loss 💔 as for the other stuff, look after yourself! all of us will still be here even if youre only focusing on one book! Six at once is a lot to handle and i feel confident enough to say NONE of us will be disappointed if you focus on less. Overworking yourself to not 'disappoint' us will just lead to burnout and passion loss. We adore you, love you, and want you be healthy and okay ♥️

Gem 💜

Oh sweetheart, please just stop. No writing unless it helps YOUR brain or heart. Take a break. No one here cares if you release 1 book or 6 or even none. Do what you need to do for YOU 💜 I’m so sorry for your loss of your kitty. They like to smash our hearts and take pieces of us with them. STOP. REST. Give your poor mind, body and soul the rest it’s screaming for before the universe does it for you, and that shit is never kind to us as we all know. Sending virtual squishes 💜

love-bookswillbetheendofme

I'm sorry for your loss! Please take as much time as you need, we can be patient. <3

Candice L. Chapman

Be well, Queen! You can’t pour from an empty cup! I’m so sorry about your cat; those choices are always hard. I hope the appointment with your psychiatrist goes well. 🫶🫶🫶

Rayna Hernandez

Im sorry to hear about your cat. People think they're just animals but they really are so much more and I'm sorry you guys lost her. Definitely take time for yourself. Yes we're here for content but not at the cost of your health and well-being. You're a person just like us and you deserve a break and a reset and time for you. I promise you aren't letting us down. Whine, vent, shout from the rooftops and scream into the void. We're here for all of it. Big hugs, good vibes, positive energy and all that good stuff!

Nat

Take your time and look after yourself, we are all here for such a short time try not to spend it worrying and making yourself ill or your passion could end up being a chore. I'm sure no one would mind waiting. Take care 🙂 ❤️

Angelina (Charlies version) ♟️

Take care of yourself before anything!! I'm so sorry about your kitty :(( No matter how hard you push the accelerator if theres no gas you aren't moving an inch. Sending you all the love & good energy <3

Yolanda Ruiz Fabian

You have to come first! We we will be here patiently waiting for you. We love and care about your wellbeing above all. 🥰 I'm truly sorry for your loss. Please take care.

Catherine L

Losing a beloved pet takes a toll, I'm so sorry for the loss. Don't feel you are letting us down. You do so much for your fans. We appreciate you and want you to take care of yourself. We'll be here cheering you on to better mental, physical and emotional health. 💛

Mysti Muffett

Grief knocks all of our systems offline…especially on top of being ill. All the gentle hugs. Your Muse needs to recharge her spiritual batteries. Here’s wishing you all the good things in the universe to do that. 💜

Karli

You’re amazing as always. We support you 🩷🩷🩷

Roza

Please take time to rest and grieve. Burning yourself out while sick and grieving is not good for you at all. We all love your content but we also care for you more and it’s clear you need a break and some time to reset. Please know you’re in my thoughts and hopefully you feel better soon.

Tanya Veitch

It’s so difficult to say goodbye to a pet and to know when the right time to make the tough decision is. Losing a pet combined with (waves hands wildly at EVERYTHING) the fact that the entire world feels like a catastrophe right now… please just give yourself a break. Like just reschedule whatever you can and take a few weeks away from working on anything but your mental health. People will understand and in the end your writing will be all the better for the break from the endless pressure. Also sending hugs from my corner of chaos.

Wendy Ragan Poplin

Everytime I have had to let a furry member of the family go I read the Rainbow Bridge poem and I feel a sense of peace. Please take care of yourself and we will be waiting on you and your brilliance when you are back in your groove. Love and hugs!

Nikki Duncan

Take time for you then focus on what brings you the most joy. We’re all here for whatever you give us. Be human, it’s ok. ❤️

Nicole Rickert

Just popping in to echo that all of us here care way more about your health and wellbeing than getting new chapters on a set schedule. Take care of yourself. Take as long as you need. We’ll still be here ❤️

Meghan

I’m so sorry for your loss your health and wellbeing is important we will all still be here after you take time to recharge and recover

Jessica Campos

Sorry for your loss. ❤️‍🩹 losing pets is hard. Take care of yourself! As much as we salivate over your work and want more, you are most important! If you need to, take a couple days or a week or more to reset. Burnout is very mentally draining.

TheKittyMommy3

That’s like a double whammy with experience points. Pick the one story that is speaking the loudest focus on that. We will be happy . :-) If you cannot whine to us, who can you whine to?

Aimi Yokaiko

My April ALSO sucked, which when you share a name with the month, REALLY makes it feel more personal. However, PLEASE let us remind you that at the end of the day what we care about most is that YOU are taking care of YOU. There is a reason that the adage "you can please some of the people some of the time, but you cannot please all of the people, all of the time" is a saying. People pleasing just ends up draining you and upsetting more than it pleases because it's impossible to please everyone. We are happy to wait, we are happy to let you heal, you do what you need to do, and when you need help. Ask for it. If anyone thinks less of of you for asking for help - stab 'em... (except don't because illegal and all but you could do it in your mind)

Pansy Tong

Please take care of yourself. I rather you be happy and healthy than burnt out, miserable and unwell. I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so hard, they are family too. The book can wait.

Theresa Derwin

So sorry you're going through all this. Just look after yourself x

Lulu Parm

Be safe ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sophie 🐕❤️

As someone who just had to take a year recovering from a severe burnout, I can tell you that taking care of you and your mental health is THE most important thing. All of us will still be there. Taking care of yourself comes first, always ❤️

Andrew Brown

First: sorry for your loss. It’s not that long since we had to do the same.

Andrew Brown

Second: As others have said we’d all rather have you happy and thriving. So take time. And no one is going to be annoyed that their pet project got shoved back when you pick what YOU want to write

AM Olson

You take care and we will be here for you. Maybe do something totally off the wall and entirely different. One of the authors I read just started up horseback riding lessons! So, uh, I don't know. Learn to shoot a bow, sew a shirt or cook cassoulet. Heck, brew up some beer. Do something totally different and physical that takes some thought.

Taylor Picha

We are not going anywhere! Take care of you and your family. Much love to yall for your loss. 🫂

Gem 💜

Do you have rage rooms over your side of the pond? They can be really cathartic and get a lot of pent up stuff out.

Sheila Pourteymoor

So many comments are saying what i would say. So take care of you first, you can't fill our cups if yours is empty and honestly, there is so much content here that I assume no one would have any problem rereading. I hope you feel better soon and im sending you good vibes over the loss of your sweet cat 💜

Maddie P

Please don’t feel rushed on our account. Take care of yourself first! I am happy to wait until you are happy and healthy. Your books bring me genuine joy. I’m happy to wait because I can’t fully enjoy the book if I know you struggled so much while writing it. Please take peace in the fact that we are glad to wait for the masterpiece you will inevitably write!❤️

SANDRA ETTLINGER

I’m so sorry that you’re dealing with so much. Feeling chronically unwell sucks. I speak from personal experience – I just had full knee replacement surgery after more than a year of constant pain. And I’ve also been there, waiting a little too long to let a loved kitty go. You are always going to be harder on yourself than anyone else, Please take the comments from all of us to heart. We want what is the best for you and for you to be happy and healthy when you bring us your incredible stories. It is no hardship to wait, because we aren’t going anywhere. So please, please focus on yourself so that you can feel mentally and physically better. That is the most important thing. Much love and peace – Sandra

W L Stercy

We'll be here whenever you can do something, but you're not letting us down if you can't. You are one of the most prolific writers I know, and I love that, but NOT at the expense of your health. Please, look after yourself first.

Cindy Deporter

Take care of you the rest is the window dressing.

delayne hendricks

i am happy your sharing your mental health struggles. My mom was diagnosed multiple personality disorder, now known as DID, as a young girl. My son is autistic, my boyfriend of 13 years is bipolar and my daughter and i have severe depression. Your books are an awesome outlet and i know i for one greatly appreciate your writings BUT take care of yourself.

Amanda Becker

I'm sure everyone would agree that waiting for new stuff is perfectly acceptable if it means you take care of yourself. We can always re-read your series while we wait.

Menotah

Taking care of yourself takes priority; we will be here to cheer you on, no matter how long that takes, and your work is worth the wait.
