Here is the new tutorial on how I tackle LINEART!  I'm using Procreate for this tutorial but most of the principals apply to other software as well!

(apologies for some of the sneeze sounds in the background.  My partner has had a cold and has been sneezing ALL DAY)

BRUSHES:

  •  Procreate: Calligraphy>Chalk
  • Clip Studio Paint: Teagues Folly (RNG) (From the Frenden Brush Pack)
  • Photoshop:  I wouldn't wish the pain of doing line-art in photoshop on my worst enemy.  No brush can save you in that beast of a program when it comes to lineart!

The tutorial is great I also bought the pack from Frenden. But unfortunately I can't find the brush. is his name different now?

I'm glad you like the tutorial. As far as I know the name is the same. The frenden brush pack is pretty huge and has different categories. I think the teagues folly is located in the inkers folder.

question :) I listened to the whole video, and I appriciate the tips and tricks you mentioned! what my question is: what is the resolution of your sketches usually? tried to search for in in the search engine but couldnt find it - I'm always struggling with the perfect lineart thickness :D

Good question. In clip studio paint, I usually use 4x6 inches at 1200 resolution, but that is often too big for iPads. I have liked working on 3000x4000 at 1200 dpi on my iPad in the past, though you might run into a layer limit. My rule is usually to go as big as I can get away with because I never know if I’ll need to print something big

This was extremely helpful! I feel like a line hard is a big challenge for me because I’m also a messy drawer but if you can get to the point where you like doing it then I think that I will too. I think I actually tried a few of your tips recently and it really made a difference. I’m excited to keep learning and growing. Thanks for putting this together!
