Finally starting up another new series! Excited to see where Succession brings me on this journey..coming in completely blind. I have a feeling this series will lean heavily towards the writing and characters, but I'm curious to see how other aspects of filmmaking will be experimented with as the episodes continue.

(EDITOR hasn't sent in the youtube edits but wanted to give the uncuts out! You'll be notified when this post is updated with youtube links!)

This is where the show starts to really gear up!!!!!!

Sorry if this got answered already, but your intuition is correct: they shot the whole series on film! The old school rolling cams + handicam docu style leads to some really novel shooting solutions in later seasons. Starting with S2, each episode has a short 'Inside the Episode' featurette. All of them are on HBO YouTube. They're worth watching, either on your own or as a bonus reaction at the end.

this is my third time watching the series lol but i am just now realizing that Connor was on MDMA and thats why he was sweating at the bar and telling everyone he loves them hahahaha just love the comedy in this show. you can really see where Will Ferrel got his hands in on producing, thats for sure

Austerlitz is so good. You really see the complicated feelings they have for each other and how broken they all are. The therapy session is so cringe but so entertaining! Roman uses crass humor to deflect when he feels awkward, like a 12 year old. Shiv emotionally closes off completely. Connor doesn't even try. He can't even say what he wants with Willa properly, he is so afraid of rejection he keeps making sure that she knows he will keep paying for everything. I love the detail of Connor saying Logan can't swim but we see Logan swimming at the end. Shows how much of himself he keeps secret from his kids, probably not wanting them to see his scars. And then there is Kendall, oh boy... He is so fragile. I love his character, even though I also hate him lol

James, you are not ready for the mother lol

Can i suggest you keep timestamp + ultra blurred representation of the screen-capture for the whole uncut videos? If somehow you get off-sync or need to pause/resume, then there's an easy way to sync back up between the 2 sources... otherwise it's a pain in the ass.

You asked what was up with the scars on Logan's back, I'm watching the series for the first time as well, so I obviously don't know but maybe it's meant to be a subtle indication of some kind of prior abuse Logan experienced when he was younger, from a parent maybe.

2 phenomenal episodes! my guy tom swallowing his own load, what a moment... the pure joy on his face

One of the most interesting (and frustrating) aspects of the shows storytelling is how we know almost nothing about the characters past. All we only know is through the recollection of very unreliable narrators. The dog cage thing with Roman and Kendall is a perfect exemple, we will never know for sure who remembers what happened accurately. Their memories are so contaminated by the dynamics of the family and the complicated feelings they have for each other, much of it instigated by Logan himself. I think is interesting because it keeps us grounded in the present with the people the characters are now. We cant confront the past, the whys and what ifs. We only have the present as a consequence of the past.

That gross, disgusting, fellatio move is called a "snowball." I wish to God I didn't have this information. I blame Kevin Smith and his movie CLERKS. 🤢

"Austerlitz" is a really good title to episode seven. Napoleon's victory at the Battle of Austerlitz ended the 1000 year Holy Roman Empire. The Roy's empire is becoming a relic of the past and it's crumbling around them.
