Getting right into the mix with Season 3 of Mr. Robot! I'm so hyped and excited to dive back into this world. The atmosphere, the music, characters, and themes are so damn entertaining to think over and watch unfold. Let's get right into it!

The Knight Rider references are hilarious. 🤣

Linda

Yeah, I don't mind saying that Mr. Robot is way deeper and a lot better crafted than BCS. 🔥

Thanks James I digged your commentary, especially your afterthoughts on episode 7 about what stance to take within the system. As usual I'd rather not say much to avoid affecting your experience but I'll be happy to share my thoughts once we reach the final episodes. And curious to hear what you think of the whole thing by then.

Yea I too wish more people would see this masterpiece of a show. It's hard to find reactions too it cause I know it doesn't pull the viewers people are hoping for but that's why I support if I can. Can't wait for the rest!

I think during episode 7, my mind sorta tended to wander towards Stalker. No matter how evil something is, it'll always be weaker than the Zone which was comforting. I also seriously recommend a lot of old school Russian literature, before and during the Wars. They were powerfully bleak.

I also honestly think that Breaking Bad (and incidentally, Better Call Saul) was popular primarily because it was a unique story on 2009's cable media (Bryan Cranston cooking meth). I also think the fall of USA Network played a large part in Mr. Robot not getting attention vs AMC, which also had the Walking Dead at the time. Also, maybe the time between shows was drastic enough that the media landscape was too different for Mr. Robot to grab a foothold in the American public. If it wasn't on Netflix or Hulu, people didn't watch it. (I wish art was free, but we're not there yet.)

I know how much you respect this filmmaking so when this is over make sure you check out Sam Esmail's other stuff. There is a short two season show called Homecoming that is very cool and unique. And then he just released that movie Leave the World Behind. I can't wait for you to continue with him down the road..

A lot of people call episode 8 a filler episode, but I think it's one of the best episodes in the series. It's emotional. It provides closure for 2 important characters. It gives us critical context for Elliot's psychological state at this point in the story. It's beautifully shot and acted. I can't say enough good things about it. I get emotional every time I watch it.

Although the low viewership, so grateful that Sam Esmail was able to see this story to the end. Just glad that people like you are able to watch this masterpiece and hopefully able to spread to more viewers.

"Your lil revolution was allowed to happen bc it was bought and sold by people like them...It's always the end result!" >< Urk** it does hit! Seeing Trenton & Mobly go is easily heaviest and hardest to watch for the whole season, maybe the whole series. They're such loveable characters. And having Joey Bada$$ as their expeditor is such a trip too.

The reason this show means a lot to me and its one of my favorites is because after I graduated college I got a filler job, and at that job I met someone who we will call D-Lux. While working there I got really close to him and he helped me out a lot and help me in life and spiritually as well, he helped everyone he could and he was very kind to everyone. But unfortunately 7 months later he passed away, it was a short period of time that i knew him but it was meaningful and impactful. A few months later I decided to watch Mr Robot and the moment Mr Robot appeared it felt extremely surreal because D-Lux and Mr Robot look exactly the same, they talk the same as well, and they both had the same ideology, its like they could be identical twins. And as I continued watching the show the more and more i got attached to it because I was able to relate a lot to Elliots Journey and with Mr Robot being identical to D-Lux.

Even though it's a 9.1 on IMDB I feel like episode 8 is a little underrated. Don't forget the end credit scene on the last episode, else something might be a little confusing in s4..

For me Mr. Robot is my Nr. 1, by far (followed by Breaking Bad). Not only is the acting phenomenal (Rami Malek surpasses every expectation I had for an actor previously), the cinematography goes along perfectly, but the story gripped me from the start. For me it's the fact that this is the first show I have ever seen to portray the inner struggle and thought process of Depression, the struggle of connection, so damn well, it was like looking in a mirror. I finally felt understood in a way, I started rooting so damn hard for Elliott, hoping that he get's a happy Ending I can't see for myself. I guess that hooked me so bad, it's hard for another series to come close to that. I miss this show so bad and I am still completely shocked it isn't more widely known. I really love your reactions and can't wait for next week!

Darkest Knight

Mr. Robot is my favourite show for so many reasons. I can't even remember what prompted me to watch it for the first time back in 2020, but I'm so glad that I did. It was the first thing I watched that really made me understand a lot of things properly for the first time. Depression, addiction, being emotionally closed-off, panic attacks, DID (which I didn't know anything about, so the reveal in S1 completely knocked me on my ass), how hacking works... not to mention the huge divide between the wealthy and the working class and the narcissism of the corporate elite. I am one of those "I participate in capitalism because I have to, not because I want to" people, so the story of this show hooked me in immediately. What kept me watching was the incredible writing, the social commentary about our world and the very blunt calling-out of all the BS, the very unique cinematography (I hadn't watched Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul yet and now that I have, I still enjoy Mr. Robot more), the acting, the score, the choice of certain songs for certain moments based on lyrics and/or vibe, all of the references to Back to the Future (the show is littered with them), and just how great the story is. I became so invested in every single character and their part in this, even the smaller players that we don't spend much time with. I love that you call Irving "the Lalo of Mr. Robot" because he definitely feels like that a lot of the time! The last reason this show is #1 for me is simply because of how it concludes, which makes rewatching it really enjoyable. That's all I will say until you get there yourself! I've mentioned before that watching with you is my 4th time watching the show. During this rewatch, I have been putting extra focus on experiencing Elliot and Mr. Robot the way that *everyone else* in the show does. Because Elliot talks to us directly throughout and we are with him for most of the show, it's pretty easy to be on his side. So I have enjoyed focusing on how everyone else sees him because it has helped me understand all of these other characters more. Especially Darlene, who wasn't a favourite of mine after my first watch, but is one of my favourites now. Thank you so much for these reactions - they are so enjoyable and I am having the best time listening to your thoughts and experiencing your excitement!

Mr Robot is so underrate, I still don't understand that

Man, season 3 episode 8 really hits me with all the feels. Talk about an emotional roller coaster! It’s crazy to think that the series could have ended here if it weren’t for Trenton’s little brother intervening.
