YUGE episodes.

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

OMGGG! James I have been waiting all morning! Thank you for getting these up and I hope you're loving the ending of this incredible show.

Matt

After episode 7 re watching the show from the start is a whole different experience

4x07 is truly a 10/10 episode to me. Anyone in the cast or crew who touched this episode was at their best. Zero acting Emmy nominations from this episode was criminal.

If you notice Elliot first hack of each season, it deals with underage molestation/ trafficking . It explains why he doesn't like to be touched but it also changes the view of everything we see his father do. It may also explain why when Angela was being questioned by Whiterose she said she cried the first time she had sex and she likes older men since there was the scene where his dad was talking to a younger Angela when her mom was sick. Everything he did was probably a lie. Episode 8 broke me the first time I watched it, every scene with Elliot was just heartbreaking. It was the perfect follow-up to the huge reveal of episode 7. Also Dom Wick!

Almost done with the show and we realise we’ve been misled even about the main plot. And the second part of the last season just started, think about that 😅

Matt

Once again want to recommend STATION ELEVEN ✌

The acting from everybody in episode 7 is off the charts, but the thing nobody ever talks about is the fear on Mr Robot's face when he says "I can't protect you any more" hits you like a train. The music at the start of episode 8 (just after young Elliot hides the key and walks out the room) reminds me of The OA for some reason (3 Y's, man), I really should check out who did that piece of music, there's something about it (edit: I checked, there isn't - although I didn't even notice before, but they're both Anonymous Content shows, idk how I didn't know that)..

Amazing reactions. Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is almost always caused by childhood trauma. Something traumatic happens to a child, and the brain's way of coping is to create alters (separate selves) to process the trauma. Not gonna lie, the rewatch is tough, especially S1, and any flashback scenes with Elliot's dad. So many scenes make sense in retrospect. Why child Elliot (or Mr Robot) didn't care that he died in the movie theatre, why Edward (his dad) was full of regret, why he let Elliot get away with things, made him promise not to "tell anyone" about his illness (creating secret bonds + making child feel special is a classic predator thing), why Elliot aggressively takes down child predators as an adult vigilante etc. The list goes on and on. It's truly the show that benefits most from rewatching and why so many of us are excited when a reaction channel covers it. Wait until the ending man, you're gonna be blown away.

Elliot's first hack of 1x1 makes so much more sense after 4x7's reveal. Unconsciously trying to protect children from the horrors he experienced as a child and blocked out from his memory. It's truly amazing that Sam Esmail had all of these details and character points mapped out from the very first episode of the first season. When you go back and re-watch the first three seasons, Elliot's (and Mr. Robot's) actions--from the smallest to the largest--are so much more consequential.

James your reactions to this show are the best! I genuinely look forward to each reaction every week. Mr. Robot is pure cinema and I'm glad you are giving it its flowers.

Vilains really shine in this show, Whiterose, Price, Vera…if you need your fix of great vilains when this is over, you might wanna meet Omni-man (Invincible) or Homelander (The Boys). For a « « similar vibe » » you could give a try to The Leftovers

What moves me the most about these two episodes is and the show in general is, despite this story being one told on a colossal global scale - from 5/9, the cyber bombings, economic collapse - the crux of the narrative and the true emotional core is here. In a profoundly personal and revelatory moment for our main character. Elliott was always the center of this. His trauma, his disorder, his chaos, and truly his ability to make such a difference in the world despite of it, is everything we should take away from this story.

Dom is so insanely awesome and Janice is a psychotically good interrogator. I also sorta think that Doms plan harkened back the FBI’s python plan, where you gather info and just lie in wait for the moment to strike. Vera is also insanely manipulative. He’s probably even better than Janice in that respect. He found Elliot’s “pain point” in just a few hours. I could totally see ep 7 turned into an actual stage play for theatre, even the transition between rooms could be done with clever lighting. Vera monologues to Elliot, their room dims while Christa’s brightens to show her tied.

cinematically- the first time I saw episode seven, it reminded me of a really heavy stage play. This time (almost five years later) it reminds me of a really deep vibe anime.

Just saw on YouTube that you reacted to Mr. Robot, came over here and saw you were at the end and decided I'd sub and rewatch so here I am. And off to S1E1 I gooo...🏃‍♂️💨

Will you be doing season 4 of “the boys “ after this?

When you mentioned you're gonna watch this show, the first thought was I gotta see your reaction to 4x7. When I saw the episode I was like this is it. This is the best episode of all TV ever, no one's gonna ever top it (I'm still waiting). And every show I watched after it felt like nothing. I didn't even finish this show before I was over the slump the episode put me in lmao! PEAK!
