Thank you all for voting!! The choices for this upcoming week Friday will be Candyman (1992)  Next Thursday will be Late Night with the Devil (2023)

I'll be extending the Halloween Poll for another two weeks-month so no worries!

Stay tuned for the next poll and recommend films below :)

Moustache Rousse

Good picks. Candyman is a classic of the slasher era. I'll recommend the Rob Zombie trilogy again. Very Robert Rodriguez ish movies. Also Dwight is in the first movie lol. To be clear, those aren't zombie movies. Rob Zombie is the lead singer from White zombie and Rob Zombie.

Michael Proch

Really keeping my fingers crossed for Lake Mungo and Pulse next week

Kelvin

Yep, interesting that the man behind Mungo wrote some of Late Night iirc

Iseko

Nice, hope Pulse will win next week! I would also recommend Nosferatu from 1979, really magnificent with great atmosphere, I prefer this one rather than the one from 1922

Tetley

A selection of Aussie films inspired by horrific true events (proceed with caution): Nitram (2021) Hounds of Love (2016) Snowtown (2011) Wolf Creek (2005) The Boys (1998)

BadBoyBeta

He's extending the Halloween Poll! We still have a chance for Mouth of Madness!

James vs Cinema

I’m holding out for those too! They sound interesting!

The American Captain

Prometheus (2012) if you’re looking for a blend between sci-fi, slasher horror, and the philosophy of man, alien, and machine

Keegan Duffy

Are Halloween poles the most heated or am I just projecting? I’ll continue the never ending campaign for in the mouth of madness. No new recommendations necessary… Happy Halloween all! 🔪💀

Sören Höglund

I did a horror (or at least horror adjacent) movie a day all October, and When Evil Lurks was one of my absolute favourites, so that's my recommendation.

Emil Aderskog

I had never heard of When Evil Lurks so I had to look it up, and it looks great, so even if it does not end up on James's poll, know that you at least made one person watch it :)

Kelvin

Thats a good one!

Kelvin

In terms of recs I’ll toss in: Deadstream (2022) Noroi: The Curse (2004) When Evil Lurks Red Rooms (2023) The Substance (2024)

Tetley

Martin Scorsese’s 11 favourite horror films (we've watched a few on this channel): The Haunting – 1963 Isle of the Dead – 1945 The Uninvited – 1944 The Entity – 1983 Dead of Night – 1945 The Changeling – 1980 The Shining – 1980 The Exorcist – 1973 Night of the Demon – 1957 The Innocents – 1961 Psycho – 1960

Mr. Dirty

John Carpenter's, Christine. 1983

Emil Aderskog

And if you want to see what happens when you send idiots into space.

The American Captain

Sure but scientists have historically done dumb things all the time. Rosalind Franklin got ovarian cancer from prolonged exposure to X-ray radiation discovering the DNA double helix structure despite decades of records showing nerve damage. Marie Curie who won the Nobel Prize in chemistry used to carry test tubes of radioactive isotopes in her lab costs. David Pritchard, who was an immunologist, studying how certain parasites actually can benefit bodily immune response by injecting HOOKWORMS under his skin. Often times the difference between being a genius and a mad idiot is if you survive to tell your research.

Jordan

Apostle As Above So Below Barbarian Green Inferno The Black Phone Doctor Sleep Autopsy of Jane Doe 1408 Ju-On

Emil Aderskog

Hehe damn, that's a response, I like it :D And to be clear I actually do like Prometheus, I would go so far as to say I REALLY liked it when it came out, but on subsequent viewings it gets harder and harder for me to ignore just how stupid some of the things they're doing is, and it gets to the point of being distracting and annoying. But it's not a bad movie, and David is a great character played to perfection by Fassbender, after Ripley he is imo the strongest character out of all the movies.

The American Captain

I’m in agreement with you I do think it’s definitely a flawed movie with a script that could’ve been way better. They were trying to with the same characterization and style as the original Alien but falls flat. I think the thematic elements of faith and the actual brutality of creation that came with the Engineers definitely should’ve been given a chance before Fox and Ridley scrapped it cause the audience wanted to see Xenomorphs which I can definitely understand why people wouldn’t want their sci fi stories about Jesus :/
