Season 4 is finally here! The Wire has been sitting at the throne for some of my favorite experiences in television and I can't wait to dive deeper into its story and characters. A difficult landscape with puddles having the depths of oceans.

It wasn't Michael's father, it was his mom's newer boyfriend who was his little half-brother Bug's father.

William Davis

The most optimistic episode of the series followed by the most depressing. Not-so-fun fact, episode 12 is named after a lyric from a Billie Holiday song called “God Bless the Child” :(

Young Simba

I can’t wait for next week. The greatest episode of television imo

By the way, what IS the significance of the yellow paint?

While Herc did fuck up not passing Randy off to Bunk, remember Carver also called Homicide first and left a message for Bunk about Randy but he left it with Crutchfield who was beefing with Bunk about going around him to prove Omar's innocence. So Crutchfield threw the message in the garbage and said "Fuck the Bunk."

Ms Anna, the woman who got burned in the arson attack, is Randy's foster mom.

Alot did happen this episode but The ending to episode 12 with Randy, reminds me of Diangelo's "Where's Wallace?" Scene. So powerful, no other show can pull that off I swear.

TES

Carver walking away with Randy yelling at him is one of the all time great moments of TV for me. Also always makes me think that no matter how any of us feel about police at large, and how much Carver and Herc have messed up here and other times, what these cops go through sometimes is impossible. Because even outside of incidents like this where they're partially to blame, they're constantly involved in awful incidents where you don't know what to do. They had a personal cop car 24 hours on his apartment, and these dudes made a fake 911 call to get them to leave on some real guerilla warfare tactics. These cops want to say "we'll look out for you," but when you're in a much larger system of incompetence, brutality, ignorance, etc. it must be hard not to feel helpless. Daniels, McNulty, even Carcetti, they're always wondering out loud how do we solve any of this?

Kana Kawase

Some really spectacular acting from Andre Royo (Bubbles) in these episodes, and the next episode, as well. Bubs finally hit rock bottom.

Not opening the houses was not wanting to avoid work, but because if the bad stats reflect poorly on the politicians, everyone down the line in police command including Landsman will feel some type of punishment. Also, the car stop Daniels mentioned was only an episode or two ago, not season 1.
