The Sopranos season one has been a blast! I'm already hyped for the next season and again, genuinely impressed by the human nature and character study that is happening within this series.

Pussy killed the Elvis impersonator guy because he saw Pussy meeting with his FBI contact in the party store. The Elvis guy was connected to the mob, and if word started spreading about him seeing Pussy talking with some stranger in a party store, it might raise suspicion. Pussy is also kind of a moron. I think Richie wanted to side with Junior because he's old school. The previous boss of the family was Jackie Aprile, Richie's little brother. He still kind of sees Tony as a kid, and Junior as the rightful boss. He also feels Tony isn't treating him fairly. David Proval, the actor playing Richie, can somehow manage to be really intimidating for such a little guy. He can hold his own against a behemoth like Tony.

Pussy is working with the feds, that guy he's been talking to is an FBI agent, hence why he reacted so extremely when someone saw them together

I think james quote would fit nicely with Richies personality. “This guy is a problem” lol

David Proval is so great at playing Richie Aprile I was shocked when I found out he wasnt even Italian IRL.

Carlos Hurtado

The song playing when Christopher is high in the hotel is "Certamente" by Madreblu. Great song.

Flora Smith

The actor playing Melfi’s therapist is Peter Bogdanovich, a seminal director of the late 60s/70s “New Hollywood” era - he directed Targets, The Last Picture Show, What’s Up Doc and Paper Moon among others, but those titles in particular are legitimate classics

Fun fact, the guy in Italy that snubs Paulie after he calls him "Commendatore" is David Chase, the creator of the show.

I love the episode where they go to Italy. Really captures that feeling of not quite belonging to two different places you get as the child of immigrants. In the states, they consider themselves Italian and even have a word for non-italian americans--Medigans. But they aren't truly Italian either as Paulie learns when the food is not the typical spaghetti and meatballs, they don't really speak the language outside of a few words, and the prostitute he hooks up with couldn't care less where his ancestors are from. As someone who was born the states to an immigrant father, it really resonated with me.

Since Anthony mentioned "medigans", it reminded me of a Youtuber called Stevie B, who has a very entertaining series of videos on Italian-American slang. It's a good companion piece to the Sopranos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSxXbUxz67Y

One of my favorite cuts. "WELL WHO ELSE, HUH?!" cut to Tony with his shit eating grin looking at photos of stolen cars including theirs.
