Holy shit. This is what I’ve wanted ever since the early days of your channel when you watched Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive!

Trevor

Oh hell yes, probably one of the most important pieces of media for influence on other weird guys

Kana Kawase

It's happening! Oh, man. If you follow this weird path all the way to the end, you're in for quite a ride.

Connie Tsang

Oh, this is going to be great journey.

Joshua

So wait are we doing the whole show?

Matheus Henrique

Holy shit dude, you have no idea the journey you're about to go through. Hope you make it until "The Return"

Matthew

Hell yeah! I just actually started a watch of Twin Peaks this week! Perfect timing

James

Wow! You are the first reactor I follow to watch this. I’m excited to see how someone experiencing Twin Peaks for the first time in 2025 will feel about it, but no matter what, you’re in for a bizarre and surreal ride. Imagine watching this in 1990.

Kana Kawase

Dale Cooper is one of the greatest fictional characters of all time, IMO. He is that quirky kind of aspirational that really only could come from David Lynch (though Mark Frost, the series co-creator, is often overlooked in his contributions to the show).

William Davis

This show is excellent. You’ve mentioned “Dark” a few times, and I feel like this show has similar vibes but with more humor.

The ghost of Master Fatman

Fun fact: the old man who finds Laura's body is played by Jack Nance, who was also Henry in Eraserhead.

KM

Yay!! There's no show like this, because there's no one else like David Lynch. It's a murder mystery, a dramatic soap opera, a comedic satire of a soap opera, and a surreal Lynchian comedy/horror. Edit: Also, I love Dale Cooper.

kbobravo

James, I am so excited for you to unpack this show. The owls are not what they seem.

Marcos

YOOOOOO

Leia Camilla

James, you were already my favourite movie and tv show reactor as it is, but even just the fact that you're doing all Twin Peaks has fully set that in stone. I can't even begin to describe how hyped I am for this!

Kana Kawase

You mentioned in your commentary how refreshing it was that there wasn't conflict between the local police and the FBI. That's Dale Cooper. He can get along with almost anyone. Someone who can't get along with him is probably a monster.

Linda

The scary guy in the still frame was the set decorator. David Lynch thought he had an interesting look, so he inserted the still and scared the crap out of us.

Finnhie

THANK YOU SO MUCH JAMES

Finnhie

David Lynch started out as a painter

Finnhie

I think the book series you may be thinking of is the Babysitter Club?

Michael Proch

I’ve been waiting for this for years, putting on a pot of coffee as we speak ☕️

Nico Skapof

think it is important to mention the network made Lynch and Frost chage the towns population for 5k to 50k. I feel knowing this makes the wider towns reaction to Lauras death make a lot more sense.

Kana Kawase

You asked if David Lynch ever did photography, and he did indeed. I strongly recommend you search them up. They really match up nicely with his film career, showing his appreciation for weathered industrial locations. Most people would see those places as ugly, but he had a different eye. He was able to see incredible beauty in them. That was one of the things I loved about Lynch. As dark as his filmography could be, there was always this underlying optimism and warmth and love for humanity. His filmography is very yin and yang. The darkness and the light, the horrible and the beautiful, the sacred and the propane... er, profane.

Saw the Ep 1 thumbnail on YT and couldn't get back here to resub fast enough. I love this show.

Hi, James. It's probably too late for you to see this comment, or maybe you already know, but the watch order is: S1, S2, FWWM (movie), The Missing Pieces (movie), S3 ("The Return"). There are fan edits to combine the movies (many pieces should have been in the original film), but the popular ones break up the flow of the ending, which is unforgivable in this case, so I don't recommend. There are also a number of books written by the creators, meant to be read in-between seasons that are canon and arguably almost as essential as the show itself to the overall TP story, but obviously that's not something you can react to. Regardless of quality, I think this is most infuental television series ever, both in a direct inspiration for other shows and media, and also basically igniting the era of serialised prestige television and it's golden age. I feel like to really understand this show, one needs to read up on the impact it had on the audience at the time, no-one had seen anything like it. It was a huge event, a phenomenon, and not just in America. It went crazy in Japan (check out the coffee commercial), and supposedly Queen Liz blew off Paul McCartney to watch it, haha. The strange combo of almost satirical small-town soap mystery along with surrealist/impressionist and dark horror, with film-like production quality, blew peoples minds. Also, theres a short video on youtube of the composer Angelo discussing composing Laura's theme with Lynch, no spoilers, worth a watch. :) ---- Ep 1 ---- Don't know if you caught it, but that fisherman that found Laura was the star of Eraserhead, Jack Nance. :) David Lynch trained as a painter before discovering a love of film. Zabriskie's (Sarah Palmer) screams are just wrenching. And yet, only the 2nd best screamer on the show... :) This show is one of the most fascinating to rewatch, knowing what you'll know later. You might have caught it and not commented, but you said they found hair under her nail, when it was a letter R. ---- Ep 2 ---- Josie made that coffee... Leo didn't so much as add a soundtrack to the beating as drown out her screams with music. In case it's not obvious, Shelley clearly feels like she can't leave, presumably he'll kill her.

MorkBork

Man James, Twin peaks! It's a weird one it has to grow on people. It's my favorite show. You have such an expansive open mind perfect for this journey. Season 3 sealed the deal for me. I feel so lucky to have been able to witness it. Watched a reaction last year and still I can't wait to watch it again with you!

Dale Cooper

I joined just for this series, love somebody getting into it for the first time. f I always took Leo turning on music as a way to drown out Shelly's screams. Shelly deserved so much better than she got.

Subtle System

And this was on network television….
