Hi James. Got to react to Wonder Man. To me it’s the one of the best Marvel Television Series ever. Honestly, it’s right up there with Netflix’s Daredevil. Also, right now it’s a 90% on rotten tomatoes. Also, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley is the comedy duo that we didn’t know we needed. They give Emmy worthy comedic performances. Think you would have a lot of fun with this series. Also, don’t need to do much watching before the show. Kind of its own story, and not to much interconnecting threads, which is refreshing. I hope they get a season 2. :)

I enjoyed the show before this point, but “The Eye” is the episode that truly hooked me. The suspense they built up throughout the heist is just impeccable.

about your point on the inspiration behind the Aldhani people, as for most of this show, Gilroy uses inspiration from a bunch of historical events throughout history and fuses them together. The relocation of the Aldhani people closely parallels "The Highland Clearences" from Scotland in the 18th / 19th centuries where greedy scottish landlords forcibly evicted tenants and farmers from their homes to work in overcrowded communities. You also have "The Nakba" from Arab history where 700.00 native Palestinians were expelled for the creation of the State of Israel. And finally the "Trail of Tears", a death march, where 60.000 Native Americans were forcibly relocated across the country. Gilroy does this with alot of his writing in this show. Rebellion and revolutions are countless through the centuries, and inspiration is taken from all over the place!

As I have said in your last upload, the contrast and color ARE there. The Andor release that's available on streaming is in Dolby Vision. You aren't seeing the full color gamut. In order to get full color depth (and more contrast), you need to watch Andor on either Blu Ray or the 4k UHD Blu Ray and in HDR. Dolby Vision will give you SDR colors and is less contrasty. They did that because most don't have HDR capable monitors or TV's. Streaming on an HDR TV or on a monitor that is HDR compatible or if you are on a Mac, it will get you most of the way there. But to unlock the full color range with the added color depth, you will need the Blu Rays to get access to the LOG video and have your HDR monitor/TV render the video in all of it's unique Kodak 2383 inspired color film look.

I really love the themes in this arc a lot but one thing I really love is the sound design, specifically with regards to the tie fighter. In the movies the tie fighter was always pretty much cannon fodder for everything else. But here, when it flies by, it's loud and it sounds like it growls\screams. It just highlights how terrifying they are.

I really hope you do a Rogue One rewatch once you finish up with Andor.

Ireland is cool but you really should check out Iceland for some wild landscapes

Episode 7 is the only time, where the series breaks with the 3-episode structure. It's like bridge episode, that leads from the Aldhani arc/act to the next one (episode 8-10). Then episode 11+12 go together. the second season has no outliers and completely follows the 3-episode structure.

There were two Star Wars games that more or less fit your description. Knights Of The Old Republic 1 and 2. Awesome rpgs that released on the original Xbox. Fantastic games.

I don't remember what it was like for season 1, but season 2 was released in 3 episode chunks each week. I'm totally with you on weekly releases rather than mega dumps, gives you something to look forward to.

Josh Arnoldy

Season 1 was released an episode per week, but the first 3 episodes premiered together because they probably thought people wouldn’t be patient enough to wait 3 weeks to fully buy in due to the nature of the first 2 episodes. Really just feels like a movie cut into 3 parts.

not sure if anyone has mentioned this anywhere on here... I know you're somewhat aware of the 3 episode arc structure, but it isn't quite exactly that way through the first season. Episodes 1-3 are kind of an arc, then 4-6. But then episode 7 is sort of an intermission/standalone episode, then episodes 8, 9 and 10 are an arc and episodes 11 and 12 are the season 1 wrap up. Not sure if anyone else has brought it up here, or on youtube, but it probably makes more sense to watch episode 7, then do a block of 8/9/10, then finish off the last 2 episodes in there own block of reactions. Just a suggestion and you can ask around to other patrons on what they think. I would be surprised if you did watch 7/8/9 and were able to wait a week to watch episode 10. This is only true for season 1. For season 2 they strictly stick to 3 episode blocks consistently through the end of the season.

Filmed in the Scottish highlands 👌🏽beautiful according to my friends (Aldhani)

So happy you're enjoying the show :)

As a FYI if nobody has mentioned this yet: you might remember that at the very start of Episode 1, a thing popped up on screen saying 5 BBY. In Star Wars lore, BBY is a dating system that got used by the New Republic after the Empire was overthrown, standing for Before the Battle of Yavin, which is the battle at the end of A New Hope where the first Death Star got blown up. So this first season begins roughly 5 years before that point, and Rogue One happened just before the events of A New Hope. Btw, I've been catching your reactions and such for awhile on youtube, it's good to be a member now and to be able to show my support.

One thing: the next episode is something of a bridge into the next arc, sort of half closing off stuff from the Aldhani arc and setting up the one that comes after it. The arc is mainly episodes 7-10, and then the last 2 episodes of the season are the final arc. A small bit of trivia: The war that Cassian claims to have fought in (and which Luthen states that Cass was just a cook and deserted after 6 months), Mimban, is a World War 1 style war in Star Wars lore; trench warfare, grueling attrition, ridiculously high casualties for barely any gains. One of the earliest cases of the Empire trying to steal a planet's resources for itself and the locals forming an organized resistance. Also, Han Solo was there for awhile. IIRC Solo went to be a pilot in the Navy, got blacklisted for insubordination or something like that, then got thrown into the army and wound up assigned to Mimban. I haven't seen the movie Solo but I heard that Mimban and Han's time there shows up in the movie.

Filmed where I live in the Scottish highlands 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The Empires treatment of the native Aldhanis is loosely based on the Highland clearances where the British crown pretty much tried to ethically cleanse the locals for land or something. Also the heist itself and the outfits they wear in the camp are based off one of the first heists by Stalin and the Bolsheviks that would be used to fund the October Revolution
