WHOA, This is a crazy reaction to drop, such a unique classic! Always dropping bangers for the Man in the Chair. Cheers!

James vs Cinema

You already know! Told y'all I gotcha with the films again. This one is a long one, enjoy!

Yours truly, Johnny Dollar

Wow, this was my second favorite movie when I was 14 years old. This was the movie that made me realize nationalism was a bad idea.

This is easily in my top 10 films of all time. Never seen director's cut. Looking forward. Cheers!

Diabetic Raider

I've only seen the Director's Cut of this film. Its such a unique film; a first of its kind to have a world-wide release that depicted the view from the German underwater mariner's complete perspective. No forced bravado or niceties, no "both sideisms" and no romanticisms. Just the realities of war since "The Enemy Below."

Wow, I did not expect you watching this one, but I'm here for it! It's one of my favorite films/mini series.

One thing I llove about older movies is the subtletly or lack of depth of field blur. Whatever you call it. Foregeround and background are both visible and sharp, unless it serves a real purpose. That allows so much more detail in the backgrounds to be shown instead of told later!

Reader Of Threads

Wow, now this was a surprise! If you enjoy old war movies, watch Where Eagles Dare with Richard Burton and a young Clint Eastwood. It is my favorite post ww2 movie. It has some excellent camera work, only better in my opinion. (then again, I know nothing about directing)

For me personally, the movie just shows that every "war" victory or strategic victory or whatever you wanna call it, is always accompanied with dread and sorrow. The only time the crew achieved something that truly only evoked positive feelings was when they finally managed to surface again, when the persistence and camraderie carried them up from the depths. Everything else is just.. so sad.

Another cool Old school war movie is Waterloo 1970.

The Lives of Others (2006) & Downfall (2004) are two other great German films. Downfall is about Hitler's last days in the bunker and Lives of Others deals with East German surveillance.
