Vote on what I should watch and react to next! This Poll will end most likely Thursday and I'll choose the TOP 2 to react to next week on Thursday and Friday!

No worries, I plan on actually prolonging these recommendations so don't trip if you don't see your selection on here first! :)

Coherence rules. Not sure Naked Lunch really works in this category but it’s definitely a ride.

Eric Gray

John Carpenter's They Live

Sergey Crane

Coherence is an awesome movie - I am afraid it will not get enough votes since so few have seen it. But I really think it shows what an amazing and cool movie someone can make for no budget. I would also recommend timecrimes. It is in spanish but one of the better time travel movies!

James vs Cinema

Yeah, it’s labeled as sci-fi but I also don’t mind it being from Cronenberg hahaha

john francis

you already have Naked Lunch up there, but eventually, you'll react to Existenz and I am gunna have a blast watching it. i will recommend Upstream Color (2013) and the miniseries Maniac from 2015. You're killin' it, James !

Dajefe70

Timecrimes is great. I always recommend that movie to YouTubers for reactions, but it never happens.

Kara

Coherence actually slaps, incredible movie.

sbroon

I thought High Life was pretty terrible to be honest but I'd be interested to see what you think of Coherence. A couple of under the radar sci-fi movies you may enjoy: Circle (2015) and Time Trap (2017).

Kelvin

Speaking of Cronenberg if you haven’t done/seen it already of his stuff I’d submit Existenz. That one’s pretty cool too

2026-11-07 22:00 Star Wars Trilogy (Original Theatrical Cuts). I have all three that I can share with you easily.

OBBlade

The only people not voting for coherence are people that haven't seen it.

Moxie McMurder

Some great films here but I'll always show up for Coherence!

Ryan K

Enemy Mine, Highlander, and Heavy Metal!

Moustache Rousse

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind The Departed The skin I live in My own private Idaho Ghost world Frank Elephant Ichi the killer The devil's rejects Sleepers One hour photo

Darkest Knight

Yo be honest who else thought body snatchers was invasion of the snatchers we watched a few months ago and had to look it up to double check lol

Elle Durden

Definitely Coherence has to make the cut! its such an underrated film! I think you will appreciate the simplicity of it and how much the film accomplish with so little.

Will

Coherence is so good

Kelvin

Existenz rocks. Prob the most fun Cronenberg film I’ve seen

Gary Paterson

Oh didnt know we were doing s Sci-Fi kick. May i humbley throw in to the hat the following Silent Running (1972) Forbidden Planet (1956) or even the first adaptation of Who Goes There The Thing From Another World (1951) Strange Days (1995) never gets a mention either which is a Kathryn Bigelow film who went on to do The Hurt Locker

Penultimate Tommy Wiseau

I've heard good things about Seconds, though I've never seen it. Sci-fi rec: Fantastic Planet (1973) A combination French/Czech animated movie.

Elle Durden

Two suggestions from the top of my head of low budget sci-fi: The vast of the night - 2019 (Budget 700k) Another Earth - 2011 (Budget 100k)

Spencer

Gotta be Coherence. There's so much going for it. Basically zero lines of scripted dialogue, no budget. Just a bunch of bought-in actors, a director, and a camera making magic.

Kelvin

Just saw strange days recently, that’s an interesting one

Ken

Looking forward to this. Been hoping you'd do scifi I recommend METROPOLIS (1927)

ryan

some suggestions: A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) Upgrade (2018) Ghost in the Shell (1995) Ad Astra (2019) War of the Worlds (2005)

Gary Paterson

It is an interesting film and quite forward looking in terms of where we are now in terms of VR etc. When it was made they didnthave the tech to do the POV shots they wanted so they had to spend time developing it. Which is wild to think of given it is so common place now. Has a nice cyber punk feel to it as well. Always felt is was just a solid and engaging film with some interesting ideas and a great cast.

Yours truly, Johnny Dollar

I am kind of blanking on great sci fi, but what about Escape from New York and Star Trek the Motion Picture?

Garner

Forbidden Planet (1956)

Kelvin

With films like that that look forward to the future it’s always funny to see where things are accurate (most of the film imo) and inaccurate (the predictions for President, ouch)

Tetley

Escape from New York! I'll second that.

Kaitlin

Oh wow this is a heavy duty list. And a great reminder I need to watch High Life. 😂

Kaitlin

Moon (2009) The Iron Giant (1999) Nope (2022) Paprika (2006) I was going to say Attack the Block because it’s perfect but looks like that was one of your early ones! 😊

Tetley

This is a bit of a wildcard but how about USS Callister (season 4, episode 1 of Black Mirror). Technically it's a TV episode but it runs for 76 minutes so it's pretty close to a movie. A cool, funny, scary and unique sci-fi story...

Jason

They Cloned Tyrone and THX 1138, George Lucas' first movie

Tetley

Good call!

Mr TV Eye

"Quiet Earth" is such a great, unique movie.

TYLER

Brainstorm (1983) Existenz (1999)

Paul Steffens

Since Coherence is on the list I would also like to suggest The Man From Earth. It is people in a room talking, it is sci-fi and it is pretty good.

ActionJeans

John Carpenter's Starman

EmCarter

Have you seen the animated Ghost in the Shell?

JL Green

While Running Man is an audience pleaser, the remake of the Body Snatchers is a worthy rival to the original and begs an expert review.

Xclusive

The Island (2005), starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson, very underrated movie that's awesome! i think you would dig it! .... Looking forward to The Running Man

Brett Coster

I voted for Seconds and The Quiet Earth, but Coherence (which I've not seen) and The Running Man (which I have seen) have already won. As for suggestions, Metropolis (1927), Woman in the Moon (1929), Starman (1984), Solaris (1972), and Melancholia (2011).

RICHARD

Totally agree. It's probably the in the top 5 movies each of them did.

RICHARD

James is going to do a month dedicated to anime, suggest it then.

RICHARD

It needs to be the 1984 version with the updated soundtrack, simply amazing.

RICHARD

Absolutely! One of the most underrated movies of all time.

MrBooShoes

Coherence is such a great lo-budget psychological sci-fi. Not sure where you get suggestions for movies, but a recent fantastic sci-fi movie is UPGRADE. Captures that 70/80s vibe sci-fi/dystopian future. But I'm pulling for Coherence and the classic that is Naked Lunch!

EmCarter

I'm suggesting it now, thanks

Ken

I like that edit but it's a different creator's vision and all that licensed music could be a problem on youtube

Yours truly, Johnny Dollar

What kind of resolution do they have? I bought the DVD box set that claimed to have the theatrical cuts; and it did, but they were at 240p or worse and the picture was half the size screen for no reason and were completely unwatchable. I assume these are much better than that.

Wyatt James

Alphaville (1965) - I know you like French New Wave. The Invisible Man (1933)

Brian

ALTERED STATES (1980), for something existential and for a crowd pleaser, INNERSPACE (1987)

Professor Thursday

The Last Starfighter (1984) (First CGI Cut Scenes) Robocop 2 (Much better than the first one)

dreamcoyote

A Boy and His Dog (1975) - eaaaarly Don Johnson. Definitely a B post-apocalypse movie (on the order of Cherry 2000) but funny ;)

Kaitlin

OMG I forgot They Cloned Tyrone!! Definitely on this list too!

MrBooShoes

Upgrade is sooo good. Has that 70/80s grungy, dystopian sci-fi vibe and is such a efficiently compact story, fantastic use of camera and movement, too.

MrBooShoes

Not a movie, but a fantastic TV show in the sci-fi-ish realm, is Noah Hawley's LEGION. 3 seasons of a complete story, with some really creative visual style and psychedelic otherworldly vibe. In my top 3 TV shows, just for how creative it is. Love to see LEGION show up on the TV show reaction polls, but it's a show that is way under the radar, so not sure many would have seen it.

Cody

Repo Man ....and Repo Men (no relation)

MrBooShoes

Moon is such a great film

MrBooShoes

Another sci fi movie must is SERENITY, however, you must first watch the show FIREFLY. It is only 14 episodes, each roughly 45 minutes long apart from the series premiere episode which is closer to an hour/hour and a half. You could potentially watch SERENITY without watching the series, but it would be absolutely sacrilegious. It's incredibly well written and a great concept/vibe of a Space Western.
