I get peeved when people call these tusks because then they ask me why Talita doesn't cut them off or sand them down. While they're growing, that would be like sanding down your elbow. After they've grown, most of the length still has blood in it. (Not that this has stopped homeplanet centaurs from drilling holes in them and etc., but it would definitely stop Talita.) The misc over-long tangent I decided to leave off this page is that many of the Biing islanders put their growing antlers inside a form to make them curved. This has its origin in them using their antlers to make fish hooks, but it has taken on a life of its own as cultural tradition. The more curved your antlers are, the more status you have (particularly in young marriageable males).

Oh, the Biing curve their antlers on purpose, and it's not just a genetic quirk? That's so cool!

I remember you saying they get to full length and drop the velvet crazy fast, how fast is that, 2 weeks?

Sparky Lurkdragon

Oh, I'd been wondering about the Biing antlers! That's really cool!

Is Talita's accellerated antler cycle indication that she's aging faster?

I love all of these anatomical details and diagrams, they're one of my favourtive parts!

I love your infographics!! oop, typo in first paragraph, "annually" is spelled with two Ns.

Alight

This might be one of my favourite of your infographics.

I love the detail about centaur female dominance conflicts. I’m suddenly really interested in the culture and styles that the various aliens have associated with fighting. I can imagine that a centaur matriarch fight would be something to behold.

If the velvet gets damaged during the growth period, can the resulting antler grow in wonky like what can happen with earth species antlers?

Since Talita is growing antlers much more frequently than normal, and antlers grow progressively longer over time, are her antlers longer than typical for a Centaur of her age? Could she wind up growing impressively long antlers at middle-age?
