I have a Question (as "Oberst): What was the state of the Rommels troops at the battle of El Alamein. As far as I know, they were in a bad shape, lacking fuel, spare parts and even usable tanks. (This is not part of my official question now): My underlying question is basically if the allied victory El Alamein was more a tactical masterpiece or more the result of a wore down german force.

Did any of the Axis powers have a legitimate chance of reaching parity (or some level close to it assuming the Axis solely conducted defensive operations of their territory) of production/industrial output compared to the Allies? Even if the Soviet Union fell, would the Axis be able to compete against the combined manufacturing capabilities of the United States, the British Empire, and other desperate allied forces in South America, Australia, Asia, and Africa? I would assume Allied commanders would prioritize disabling Axis production capabilities.

Hey MHV, did the Germans actually deploy an effective flamethrower tank design? Everyone knows of the Allied Crocodile and Zippo, but what did the German’s come up with, and to any effect?
