A: Why are you so negative about the Wehrmacht / Germany?

Quite some people suggest that I have such a negative view on the Wehrmacht, German Forces, Germany etc. well, I think this is not completely wrong, but it is not limited to Germany, it's just how we do things "over here" (Europe). I like this, it teaches kids how to take criticism !

I think the world and more over the United States could use a little more critical thinking. I really appreciate the manner in which many austrians or Germans analyze certain situations. I think the videos are always well thought-out. The production level seems very high and there is a lot of effort expended to achieve historical accuracy.

Although you deserve many compliments for your work, mine was not just a kind comment. I spent two years in the Wurtsberg area from 1977 till late 1979 and observed many things. Outside the Conn Barracks at Schweinfurt I watched the Germans build a bridge. They were working on it before I arrived in Germany and they finished it just before I left . about a year and three quarters. It was the most spectacular feat of engineering I have ever seen. not just in design but in the way the bridge was assembled.

yeah, I think our culture produces some great engineers / engineering, since error avoidance is crucial. I consider myself an Engineer due to my Computer Science background (and the associated Masters of Science in Austria is "Diplom Ingenieur" ("Diploma Engineer"). The thing is, as an engineer if you make an error, it is not unlikely that people might get hurt or killed. On the "negative side", I think it is bad in creating consumer-oriented products. Especially in terms of usability, there are exceptions and when we put a focus on it, it works, but it isn't as natural, as it goes for the US. To oversimplify it: you want something perfect, get a German, you want something popular, get an American.
