Infantry Doctrine for the Future?

Original Patreon Question: I was wondering if any of the so called "futuristic" soldiers doctrine was in your opinion the one that would suit the best in our or I would say our children's world and its dangers? Do you think a complete network linked soldier would be a more valuable asset than one with "only" an exo-squeleton, still able to speak to local populations while giving hints to his very-well connected superior? And what about the hazards of hacking in this field? »» SUPPORT MHV «« » patreon - https://www.patreon.com/mhv » paypal donation - https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=TFHEY4P4YU3NY »» MERCHANDISE - SPOILS OF WAR «« » shop - https://www.redbubble.com/people/mhvis/shop »» SOCIAL MEDIA «« » minds.com - https://www.minds.com/militaryhistoryvisualized » facebook - https://www.facebook.com/milhistoryvisualized/ » twitter - https://twitter.com/MilHiVisualized » twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/militaryhistoryvisualized » RallyPoint - https://www.rallypoint.com/organizations/military-history-visualized » tumblr - http://militaryhistoryvisualized.tumblr.com/ Military History Vlogs is a support channel to Military History Visualized with a focus personal accounts, answering questions that arose on the main channel and showcasing events like visiting museums, using equipment or military hardware. » SOURCES « Australian National University: Information wars: the fine art of mass manipulation in the digital age https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBEbV12s0S0 Salzburger Nachrichten: Bundesheer fehlen 2.000 Rekruten pro Jahr (November, 2017) https://www.sn.at/politik/innenpolitik/bundesheer-fehlen-2-000-rekruten-pro-jahr-19973290#link_time=1509535909 Guardian: Sweden to reintroduce conscription amid rising Baltic tensions https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/mar/02/sweden-reintroduce-conscription-amid-rising-baltic-tensions DW: Germany mulls bringing back compulsory national service http://www.dw.com/en/germany-mulls-bringing-back-compulsory-national-service/a-19494191 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opération_Sentinelle

Since the technological changes require better training but are also somewhat expensive to update I would probably focus on a small elite force with radid deployment capabilities but combine it with a much larger, but worse equiped reservist army for conventional war or crowd control. You could call it the swiss system plus an expeditionary force.

Thank you so much for having taken the time to answer my questions, very thick and complex topic, you reached some topics I even don't think of properly. Awesome work to say the least. There is much to say about drones and the potential they offer and I feel like the general perspective is quite away from what they can really do. When people think of slow plane/helicopter like monitoring robots, technology can offer extremely quick wasps or dragonflies with tons of sensors and maneuverability that can operate in highly hazardous environments. Please keep up the great work!

This was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the look at destabilizing factors geopolitically with an event horizon of greater than 10 years (tribalism, etc.).

thank you! I went mostly in the "strategic" aspects since the "small picture" must be seen in context of the "big picture". Yeah, once we reach a new stage of miniaturization it will get a bit a bit "hairy".

yeah, it really depends on the countries strategy and position. One aspect I know basically nothing about are mercenaries or military contractors, because they could provide some services as well. Considering the high amount of investment into even a small special forces infrastructure with capabilities to reach beyond one's borders, it could actually be rather "economic" if there is a reliable high-quality contractor out there.
