There some over-blown claims out there that the "Blitzkriege" were mainly achieved due to the use of Meth (Pervitin) and that historians had ignored this issue. Is it true or false? In this video we take a look at Pervitin, the Wehrmacht, the early German victories aka "Blitzkriege" and various aspects. Was Pervitin a Wunderwaffe? Was the Wehrmacht on Meth? How long was it used? And some aspects. »» SUPPORT MHV «« » patreon - https://www.patreon.com/mhv » paypal donation - https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=TFHEY4P4YU3NY » Book Wishlist https://www.amazon.de/gp/registry/wishlist/3LJIXNJIUXJES/ref=cm_wl_huc_view »» MERCHANDISE - SPOILS OF WAR «« » shop - https://www.redbubble.com/people/mhvis/shop »» SOCIAL MEDIA «« » minds.com - https://www.minds.com/militaryhistoryvisualized » facebook - https://www.facebook.com/milhistoryvisualized/ » twitter - https://twitter.com/MilHiVisualized » twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/militaryhistoryvisualized » RallyPoint - https://www.rallypoint.com/organizations/military-history-visualized » tumblr - http://militaryhistoryvisualized.tumblr.com/ Military History NOT Visualized is a support channel to Military History Visualized with a focus personal accounts, answering questions that arose on the main channel and showcasing events like visiting museums, using equipment or military hardware. » SOURCES « Steinkamp, Peter: Pervitin (Methamphetamine) test, use and misuse in the German Wehrmacht, in: Wolfgang Eckart (Hrsg.), Man, Medicine and the State: The Human Body as an Object of Government Sponsored Medical Research in the 20th Century, Stuttgart (2006), p. 61–71. I had never heard that anyone had advanced the idea that drugs allowed the Germans to do well in the beginning of the war.

My father was a US pilot during WW2 and he mentioned once that some pilots used "speed" on long flights. It seems to have been voluntary. I am not sure exactly what the drug was. I remember there was a 60's fictional TV show about a WW2 veteran who was fighting the effect of being addicted to speed, but unfortunately I can not remember the show. After I saw the show, I asked my dad about it and he said "yeah --some did take the stuff, but it scared a lot of us".

yeah, the use of drugs and other "stuff", e.g., even rituals is and was extremely common. I worked a bit with an NGO about gambling addiction etc. the numbers on drug abuse and addition also to non-substance stuff is shockingly high. To a certain degree it can be seen (or not seen) in certain TV series, I think the most extreme was the Battlestar Galactica reboot, where they were constantly drinking. Something I haven't noticed in many other shows, although I only a watch a TV series on a dvd binge watch every 3-4 years. So maybe I missed a lot.
