German Panzer Tactics WW2 - Attack

German Panzer Tactics in World War 2 relied heavily on combined arms warfare (Kampf der verbundenen Waffen) something that is often ignored with all the focus on the Panzers itself. This video explains the interaction and tactics of Panzers, Infantry, Artillery, Panzerjäger, Flak and Luftwaffe. In a general attack and a detailed view on an attack on an enemy pillbox. »» LINKS TO MENTIONED VIDEOS «« German Panzer Tactics (Basics): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg8JM3SUeSU NATO Counters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgLU5ncAE9M Panzergrenadiere - Cooperation with Tanks 1944: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsTudthlCik Stuka & Panzers - Debunked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-XGTMusZvc Why was the Wehrmacht so Combat Effective: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgQglp7OZcA »» SUPPORT MHV «« » patreon - https://www.patreon.com/mhv » paypal donation - https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=TFHEY4P4YU3NY » Book Wishlist https://www.amazon.de/gp/registry/wishlist/3LJIXNJIUXJES/ref=cm_wl_huc_view »» MERCHANDISE - SPOILS OF WAR «« » shop - https://www.redbubble.com/people/mhvis/shop »» SOCIAL MEDIA «« » twitter - https://twitter.com/MilHiVisualized » facebook - https://www.facebook.com/milhistoryvisualized/ » twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/militaryhistoryvisualized » tumblr - http://militaryhistoryvisualized.tumblr.com/ » minds.com - https://www.minds.com/militaryhistoryvisualized Military History Visualized provides a series of short narrative and visual presentations like documentaries based on academic literature or sometimes primary sources. Do you know why was it recommended to use Panzer IIs and Panzer IVs against pillboxes? What was wrong with using Panzer IIIs? Great video as always :)

Military History Visualized

it wasn't explained, yet, from what I know the Panzer IIs and IVs were organized together in companies. The Pz II had a high rate of fire, whereas the Pz IV had a large HE shell (75mm), so ideal for suppressing and anti-infantry combat. (Not entirely sure, but I think the Pz IV could also fire smoke shells.) The PzIII had the best anti-tank setup for a German tank. I assume that the pillboxes could at best be suppressed by any weapons mounted on Panzers in 1940, as such, it would make sense to use those that are best suited for the suppression role. The 37mm of the Panzer III would lack the rate of fire of the 20mm of the Panzer II and the HE of he Panzer IV. Also the combination of the two was best and they were organized already together. so that is my educated guess
