What Computer Games get Wrong about Tank Combat - with a Veteran

In this video I talk with Martin Carr (Ex-Cavalry Officer Australian Defence Force) on what computer games get wrong about war. We particularly focus on Tank Combat, since a) we are standing on a Panzerkampfwagen V Panther in the Panzermuseum Munster (Germany) and b) we both played War Thunder etc. Games mentioned: War Thunder, World of Tanks & Post Scriptum. Disclaimer: We were invited by the Panzermuseum Munster. Question: I have considered buying Steel Beasts and would like to hear comments from anyone who has tried the sim. IL-2 BOX (Battle of Stalingrad, Battle of Moscow, etc.) also has tanks and will have a "complete" tank sim soon. I have IL-2 and tried the tanks once or twice but gave up and went back to flying. Any opinions about the IL-2 tanks. I got a free copy of Battlefield V when I bought my RTX 2070 but haven't downloaded it because of all the negative reviews. It is definitely (based on the videos I have seen) is a game not a sim.

The Theatre of War (TOW) series of games was made by IC Publishing. The same group in Russia who behind the IL-2 series as I understand it. TOW uses the same game engine I believe. It is a ground based simulator for tanks and squad level infantry. It also has aircraft for observation, ground attack, and bombing. That would be the closest comparison for tanks in my opinion. Like most of the IL-2 series, most of the games are over 10 years old now. You can still find it on Steam.
