Really good video with great points. Looking from a military historian definitely makes more sense that it was an elite unit, that in normal society also uses force because people know they will lose if fight them. Btw "Vikingr" was a great pronounciation at least from a Swedish perspective, might be difference in Nor, Dan or Ice. "Deviants" though was the English word you really slaughtered. Favourite part was describing the effects of the Fly Agraric mushroom. Maybe berserkers was an elite unit made from botanists sneaking into enemy camps, to put mushrooms in their salads...

thank you! yeah, I noticed I slaughtered "deviants" while editing. The main issue is, if I re-record it, it will sound different to the rest. It is one of those words I use irregularly, as such, if I am not fully aware I will use the "old version".

I wonder... Could the “berserkers” have been the elite warriors that had their own society. The “drug use” could have been a bonding ritual for those warrior societies between battles(maybe as a way to deal with the eras version of ptsd). And the reason a king would outlaw them is that they are a power source that outside the normal power structure.

hmm interesting perspective. I assume it probably was something at one point and transformed over time into something else and then again etc. etc. we have plenty of organizations and groups that had quite different reputations and functions decades or centuries ago.
