Now the question is why were the French defeated in mere 6 weeks, after all in First World War, they won and held against the Germans for more than 4 years. »» SUPPORT MHV «« » paypal donation - https://paypal.me/mhvis » patreon - https://www.patreon.com/join/mhv » subscribe star - https://www.subscribestar.com/mhv » Book Wishlist https://www.amazon.de/gp/registry/wishlist/3LJIXNJIUXJES/ref=cm_wl_huc_view?language=en_GB »» MERCHANDISE «« » teespring - https://teespring.com/stores/military-history-visualized » SOURCES « Frieser, Karl-Heinz: Blitzkrieg-Legende. Why France collapsed after six weeks (and why the Soviet Union was not defeated after 12 weeks) defy conventional explanation. I can easily imagine a world where France in 1940 held out and stalemated the Western Front. And I can easily envisage a world where the Soviet Union collapsed after six weeks in 1941. The arguments you offer seem to be based on ex post facto analysis. I wish historians would be more honest and admit they don't actually know why certain things happened. Conventional analysis would not be able to explain why Leicester City won the Premier League a few years back. This was an impossible feat. Yet it happened. And it reminds us that we don't really know why things happen the way they do. There is a strong element of contingency at the heart of historical processes.

A great succint summary of what happened in France that summer. Afte your current Panzer manual project is finished, you might want to consider using your videos as the basis for a concise history of the European side of WW2.
