Recently, a few people noted that their comments on Patreon were "deleted". In short: I didn't delete any comments on Patreon. I contacted support... (more on this below)

I also noticed that I got email notifications of these comments, yet, they were not there.
So, I reached out to Patreon support... which was not helpful (more on this below)
Also, later on I became aware of comments that were "missing", since I got an email notification but I couldn't find the comment in question anymore.
So,  I reached out to Patreon again, the answer was:

"Hi. Thanks for reaching out. I'm not able to help with spam filters as you know - the affected patrons would need to send an email to guidelines@patreon.com and let the team take a look." [the policy decision - that is completely mind-boggling to me - was emphasized by me]

As such, I dropped them a rather long email to explain that it makes little sense to
a) run a spam-filter on supporter-only posts (aka pay-walled content),
b) to not provide me with access to what gets caught up in that filter,
c) to require the user in question - who is by the way not informed nor am I  - about the comment being flagged as spam, to write an extra email to their service.

To that email, the basically responded the same way, after that I wrote to them a rather short email that including 4 time "f***ing".

I will now submit an official request in order that somebody higher up on the food chain maybe realizes that this is a rather inefficient and ineffective solution.
I must add here maybe I am missing something, but if not this is probably the dumbest policy decision I am aware of in 20+ years in IT.

sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your support

Bernhard

As far as I know, I've had no problems such as you describe. I agree that this policy doesn't really make sense where a pay wall is involved. Hope you are able to resolve this situation quickly, though it is possible those affected will have to inform Patreon in order for them to allow those emails to go through. Thanks again for everything you give us!

As far as I know, had exactly the same problem with a group I was admin for in FB. Reports could be made to us or to FB. When they was made to FB and removed the following happened. !. Admins got warning that something had been removed, but exactly like you have never saying what. 2. We got a warning that if we didn't police this better the group would be removed. Policing something we didn't know what it was... 3. Eventually one day, the group was gone. Was a HOI4 group with 5000+ members. Permanent according to FB, no possibility to complain.

facebook generally is a huge mess, I had one issue with them in the past, which should have not been an issue considering the extremely good standing of my account and the evidence at hand. I also noticed that basically support staff (on basically any major platform: credit card, YouTube, etc.) generally responds to every ticket like it was submitted by a moron. I usually point out specifically what I have done etc. and I get the cookie-cutter answer that I tried to avoid by providing additional detail etc. then again, they are probably flooded by tickets that are submitted by morons, so it makes sense. Wouldn't be too surprised if facebook has policies that basically shoot each other in the foot. The main difference here is, that we are talking about far smaller groups and also paid content / memberships, so the likelihood of bots, spammers, trolls, etc. is almost zero and if not can be handled on an individual basis rather easily.
