Finally got around seeing this one. It's brilliant I must say, very telling on the approach of different armies. While the brits say, you'll encounter this vehicles, let's see an efficient way of going about this, the Russians tell everyone, when you see a panther kill it. "I'm a cook, sir" "just jab your potato peeler in the visor till they surrender or it catches fire" I worked on design of armoured louvres a few years ago and it is... An unpleasant business. Based on that I was wary of the Panther and Tiger design. Even if splinters damage the radiator, a field plug could be arranged. Damage on the fans is rather catastrophic, as usually deals massive damage to the radiators, possibly a loss of other systems and certainly a lot of repair is required. You can see they worked on it on the leopard design Generally speaking, it is a big question which threats are specified / design basis The roof thingy is... A compromise. For one there will also be requirement for threats but it is the chance to save on weight and production resources. The roof has mainly a structural function to hold the plates, and the turret ring, the most practical way to go about with that is a flat plate, but it will necessarily deform and buckle, which can be sold as an advantage as limits penetration, but such things as hatches are compromised... And spalling is likely Very good points, great content
