The part about the payload of the shell took probably an additional 1 hour work yesterday looking at like several additional sources (like US WW2 intel stuff) and reaching out to Zaloga. Thanks for your support!

German Wespe vs M7 Priest - Which one was better?

In this video we look at self-propelled artillery, namely the US M7 Priest and the German Wespe or wasp in English. For this we will look at some hard values like firepower, mobility and armor protection, but also at ergonomics and the overall impact in the grand scheme of things. I love your exploration of self-propelled guns. Feel free to look at more and do more comparisons.

Very nice video. I personally like the priest purely on its looks. It's kind of a extravagant vehicle in my eyes. Also kudos on the double checking of figures. It's always scary to see when secondary or other sources lose relation to the original and things drift. A nuisance point is the point of the power to weigh ratio, which is a standard even in the industry and among the military. My point is that in many discussions torque or even torque to weight and especially the maximum torque is extremely relevant to the behaviour, drivability and Mission. Often times the actual need (toque) is hidden by (get me a bigger engine) I. E. Give me more power. While this discussion is relevant today, it is to note that (in my opinion) backs Porsche's architecture of a hybrid drive train. I won't excuse the shortcomings but the point is, that the need was so clear as to explore such outlandish ideas... And look at the M1. Should the Wespe be indeed underpowered as it took up the chassis of the PzKw 2, possible increase of weight not only reduces the power but has a very significant impact on the available torque, compounded then with gearing And now I'll stop
