Hello all!

Sadly, our current series looking at Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe in TNA comes to an end this month (booo!), but that means we need a new storyline to cover for our next run.

We would want this series (and all future series) to be between 5-7 months in length. Like we did with The Break-up of The Shield and Angle vs. Joe, we can skip around to PPVs, but think of storylines that could be concisely covered in a half year podcast output. Don't suggest the history of ECW or the nWo, for example.

We will pick out our favourite of your suggestions, and then put it to a poll for you all to vote on. This series will begin in January 2025.

Get your suggestions in below!

Kenny vs okada

BigJohnsWorld

The greatest rivalry ever of course, John Cena vs Randy Orton...😜

Wesley Lara

Don't know if you've done it yet, but Shawn Michaels vs Chris Jericho?

Heylo

what about the rise and wimpering Death of WWECW?

Bruce

Would love to see a full Invasion series!

Charlie James

For bad/stupid: Sting vs Vampiro feud from early 2000s WCW For good: Raven vs DDP WCW feud

Brxdley.h

would love the DIY saga! Or some kind of black and gold era stories!

Kieran Page

The story of Bret vs Owen Hart from breakup to blowoff, also not an era you've covered too much in the archives

Lee Bauer

DX and the Monday Night Wars.

Rido

NWA (the things you said in the receipts podcast) Saga! (and those kind of content 🥳)

Sam Palmer

HBK/Jericho 2008, so like Backlash through to No Mercy which is 6 months

AZIZ

The entirety of the Nexus run

FightForever3301

Shot in the dark but John Cena vs Edge Rivalry from the mid 2000’s early 2010’s

GraysonDrinksWater

The dumbest idea I can think of would be Kanes 2010 world heavyweight championship run, which would run from MITB to TLC. So much garbage in that time frame from multiple legends

Simfers

I suggested this on the last episode, but I think a series covering the Invasion storyline could be cool. Don't know if it would be too long, though.

Ilan Woll

The Claire Lynch Saga. Omega v Okada The Punk-Joe ROH series that saved Ring of Honor Lucha Underground season 1

Brxdley.h

Punk vs Raven in ROH would also be fun! but no idea if it would be long enough ! But Oli’s guy vs Luke’s guy could be a fun story !!

Kevin Fleuriot

The Summer of Punk 2011 You guys already did MITB'11 and TLC'11, so it would be Summerslam, NOC (with the infamous Punk vs HHH), HIAC (where Miz and Truth attack the main event and HHH has to make it all about himself), Vengeance (Punk and HHH teaming up) and end with Survivor Series 2011 (the start of Punk 434-day long reign)

Misha Sumra

The Smackdown Six era (which ISTR only lasted for about 6 months, although it feels more definitive than it was)

Zack

Matt Hardy vs Edge. The story that literally blurred fiction and real life, the story that told itself…..also for a future, lengthy, topic “The Rise and Fall (and rise again) of the Roman Empire.

Brxdley.h

if they covered the game show NXT within it, that could be great 😂

“Chump Mark” Adam Corona

John cena vs the rock or any big John cena feud might be good going into his retirement year

Phillip Goad

Shawn Michaels' rematch quest from Wrestlemania 25 to 26

Grit and Bear It Podcast

Hogan NWO reign of terror championship. Start when he wins as HH, jump Around, end at Starrcade 97

tommmm

2011 wwe and punk so maybe from the pipe bomb to him losing to rock at rumble 2013, could fit perfectly in 7 videos

Graeme Scrivener

I suggested two bret hart Vs Austin survivor series 96 royal rumble 97 final four wm 13 skip revenge of taker and put Canadian stampede rivalry or Scott Steiner wcw title run mayhem to last wcw nitro that's my two thank you

mike wolfe

Gargano vs Ciampa. One of the best rivalries WWE has ever done.

Pete Hamilton

Austin Vs Mc mahon. You could start from the night after wrestlemania 14 to Saint Valentine's Day Massacre

Dylan Campbell

Cm punk leaving could be interesting with how good he has been since returning, could do the PPV before and after he leaves, the reports from the time would be fascinating

Jamal Karshe

Cm punk VS Jeff hardy start it from wrestlemania where punk wins the MINTB briefcase to the steel cage match on smack down after summer slam

Alex kirkman

Chris Jericho New Japan run from 2017-2020

Evan Behr

You could go through the Undertaker vs Triple H and Shawn Michaels Mania matches, ending with the End of an Era match would be awesome

Lucas Ross

Would anyone like to see an evolution of Cody Rhodes? His last few months in WWE - his indie/ROH/Impact/NJPW run - creation of AEW and his run there - finishing off with his return at Mania against Seth and maybe beyond.

Rhys Mclean

Rock and Cena, twice in a lifetime. Feel like there's plenty to cover there, with plenty of relevance to todays new backstage political scene.

Kevin Fleuriot

This is my serious answer but my chaotic answer is obviously The Aces and Eights saga (although it last a year and a half and there's a lot happening only on TV so maybe just the reveal of Bully Ray as president, from BFG 2012 to Lockdown 2013)

Nerd

Aces And Eights TNA Run

Shane Mayer

Ddp vs macho man feud of 97. Put page on the map and was fun to see the two wrestle each other with legitimate chemistry

Edward Economous

Immortal 2010 to 2011. Americas Most Wanted break up and feud. More TNA stuff please. As far as WWE goes maybe Summer Of Punk from MITB to Survivor Series

Justin Reid

First six NXT takeover events from the original "TakeOver" in May 2014 to "Takeover Brooklyn" in August 2015.

Brody Allsep

Nexus/Corre. You could probably get Summer 2010-2011 in a good few episodes.

Andrew Baylis

The WCW great reset to Russo's departure- April to October 2000.

“HE RAN” Aaron Hanrahan

Nexus i would really like us to look at the evolution between nexus, new nexus and the corre hahaha I know im a corre fan 🤣

Timothy Chason

Rock and Austin. The 3 mania main events while also detailing a few of their other most iconic meetups after the years.

Stewart Meehan

Last 5-7 PPV of WCW to show how truly bad things became and how everyone was going on backstage leading up to Vince's purchase of the company

Nathan Schultz

I think keeping to things less covered would be fun: Ministry of Darkness JBL and the Cabinet Main Event Mafia Raven and the nest CM Punk in RoH Steen and Generico 5 episodes... 5 times booker T won the WCW championship

sunny Flores

Last season of lucha underground?

Cameron Kirkpatrick

Kevin steen vs El generico from roh 2009-2012 it was a generational fued for the indies. P.s. I like hearing Oli talk about Cornett era roh

Nick Devine

Four Horsewomen original NXT rise

Robbie Kelly

The Rise of John Cena as a main eventer. Could start from No Way Out 05 (Rumble 05 was covered I think) & then do most of his first run. JBL I Quit Match at Judgement Day, the draft move to Raw, Vengeance with Christian & Jericho, teaming with Shawn & Hogan, feud with Bischoff/Angle & then end with Cena & Edge or Cena & HHH at Mania 22.

Shellhard

The last year and a bit of wcw(from the start of 2000 to the 2001) because why not

Leo Bradley

Black and gold nxt would be great to see yous cover in detail. Maybe ciampa v gargano as with injuries etc it spans a long-ish period of time with relatively few matches

Tommy overkill

Daniel Bryan’s trajectory from, strangling Justin Robert’s with his own tie to…….main eventing wrestlemania 30!

Callum

Anything TNA related

Rob James

I'm gonna throw this one in, rebirth of Britwres FWA Uprising 1, 2 and 3 or a more likely choice the Dangerous Alliance from 92 including that awesome war games match

Harrison Earle

Steen vs. Generico NWO vs NWO Wolfpac Gargano vs. Ciampa

Tino RSA

Let’s go right back in time. Mega Powers explode

flyboy972

Would The Mega Powers work?

Will Campbell

The lead up to and culmination of Kofimania, starting with Ali's concussion going through to Mania, or if we're feeling adventurous all the way to Brock in 8 seconds?

Jaws 24

John cena and AJ style feud.

Tino RSA

Bret vs Shawn. From Shawn losing his smile to Survivor Series 1997

KiddGaskin98

Steen/Owens vs. Generico/Zayn

Simon Gildroy

New blood vs millionaires club in wcw 2000

Glenn Dallas

The ECW saga of Dreamer vs Raven?

Adam Burnham

Good idea, except that has to include Sid's leg break, and just thinking about that makes me a little queasy, so I would skip that episode entirely.

jarid wentzel

Hangman page from start of the company to winning the championship

J and C

Hangman from Full Gear 2020 - Full Gear 2021.

Aron

Final year of wcw (2000)

David Wikeley

The entire history of Nathan Jones

Martin Klimza

You could do evolution - either the HHH - Randy Feud or the HHH - Batista feud

Chris

What about the mega powers ending with the Randy/and Miss Elizabeth?

Blossom

I’d love to see Daniel Bryan and the YES movement / authority. I know it’s 2014 ish again but would love to see you both losing your minds at authority HHH etc

Blossom

Or if it’s not too recent, the rise of the MAN

Sunfire

nexus, corre, and the ORIGINAL NXT (would love to see some reactions to the talk the talk challenges)

General Jimmy G

Aces & eights story line.... Is it getting hot in here

Jeff Jarvis

Chris Benoit / Booker T feuds in WCW and WWE (best of 7 series)

Tariq Ali

The Invasion from Invasion to Survivor Series

Ruben Anthony

JBL's main event run on Smackdown from Judgment Day 04-WrestleMania 21

Duncan Jay

Rise of stone cold until he leaves and how the wwe panic

Josh Darby

Bret Hart's Heel turn and final year in WWE, Bryan Danielson vs The Authority, The Heyday of NXT Black and Gold, "That's Gotta Be Kane" the story of the Undertaker vs Kane, The rise of The Man- Becky Lynch's year from WrestleMania 34 to WrestleMania 35

Regan

Triple Hs reign of terror, or you could do the Undertakers streak, covering 5 or so of his manias per episode etc.

Jake Miskelly

Goldberg's undefeated streak? Lots of awesomeness with WCW. Or go dark and do his WWE run of returning to beat your favorite wrestler.

Jonny Sharkey-Mayers

Owens/Steen vs Zayn/Generico Chronicle the major highlights of their rivalry through the ROH years, into NXT and onto the main roster (though appreciate that might be a bit too long)

Iain McOmish

Going proper old school and doing the Mega Powers would be great. Especially the fact Hogan is clearly the heel even though nobody realises it. The Corporate Ministry covers the very end of '98 to Autumn '99 and is purest Attitude Era nonsense, Bro! Or I'll never say no to more TNA, either the Mafia or Aces & Eights.

Bobby Joe Watson

1997 from the Rumble to the Screwjob through the eyes of Bret.

Jason Downey

Joe vs AJ in tna. Just ppvs, maybe just 1v1 matches?

Woffubett

2000 WCW, it’s real bad and I think it’s hard to understand how bad it looks without looking at everything falling apart chronologically.

John

Undertaker vs Edge feud

Sean O'Connor

A few ideas: the breakup of the rockers, the mega powers explode (from joining forces to mania 5), the Shawn/hunter feud.

Ilan Woll

Oh, another good one, the Dreamer v Raven feud in ECW, or Raven-Sandman

Dominik Plejić

Rocky Maivia's transformation into the Rock Cody and Omega fighting for leadership of the Bullet Club Danielson vs McGuinness

Lukestar123

The undertaker vs dx wrestlemania run

Curtis Lowe

This may be too much of a meta suggestion, but maybe to treat yourself you could do the top 5 WWE PPV/PLEs according to TLC to see if they do measure up? If you’ve done certain shows already you could pick a few from the top 10 instead?

Steve Bowers

I realise by the time I’m writing this there have been 122 previous posts so it might have already been said, but maybe Jericho v Michaels 2008, or perhaps some of the Straight Edge society stuff for punk, maybe their feud with Rey? I’d also be happy with some classic TNA bollocks as well, always funny to see TNA manage to look at what WCW did and say ‘Hold my beer!’

Steve Bowers

Orrrr Cody in AEW. I know it’s recent, but would be an interesting thing to look back on 5 years after AEW started.

Adam Musgrave

Accepting you have already got the Invasion PPV and Survivor Series 2001 in the archive, the entirety of the Invasion would be fun to cover with peak comedy Angle/Austin.

Daddy Scarecrow

Definitely Main Event Mafia's original run which is crazy to think lasted only a year (Oct 2008-Oct 2009)

Geek Of Arabia

The Shawn Michaels v Chris Jericho Feud

Christopher Little

Rise and fall of the original nexus, Triple H reign of terror, mick foley’s anti hardcore run, Bret vs Shawn, Owen vs Bret, or my favorite, Daniel Bryan vs the authority: the accidental masterpiece (if you don’t do it as a series, can you do it as a video essay?)

Homerstar

Michaels vs Jericho from 2008 could be interesting as that also includes the transition from TV-14 to PG.

Geraint Bowen

Final Battle 2009-Final Battle 2012 - Steen Vs Generico Starts and Ends with Kev kicking Generico in the dick How all epics should be

Ilan Woll

WCW 2000 could be fun also

Matthew Richardson

perhaps the HBK/Taker/HHH feud with seeds planted in the 90's and early 00's, culminating with the 4 mania matches in a row (please ignore that final saudi tag match)

Lily Petal

How different wrestling promotions have affected WWE and the changes that were made by WWE. Promotions like WCW, TNA, AEW, NJPW, ECW. Or maybe the changes to women in pro wrestling over the decades in various wrestling promotions.

J-Stew

Punk vs hardy 2009

That Welsh Guy

to tie in a little to the breakup of the Shield, the breakup of Evolution. you start at Summerslam 2004 and finish up at Wrestlmania 21. it's a well done story, but its also an odd era of wwe, kinda the dying embers of ruthless aggression going in to PG, if it's to long you could skip the Smackdown stuff (as this was the era of a brand split that did matter) though I'd be interested to see a review of JBLs run 20 years later. Lastly you get to cover the best rumble promo, the first MITB, Shawn vs Angle, Eddie vs Angle, the Orton Undertaker feud (that should have ended the streak) and some classic smackdown 6 content, what more could you want

Brian Fogarty

Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho (Festival of Friendship run)

That Welsh Guy

as much as I'd want them to do reign of terror, it's likely a bit long for what they're looking for. Hence why I've put forward the end of it from wining the belt of Orton to losing it to Batista

That Welsh Guy

oh and you get the ric flair musical chairs segment, cmon guys I'm handing you gold here you know it makes sense

Stevie Houdini

How about Becky Lynch’s rise, from WWE trying to get her to turn heel to her main eventing WrestleMania XXXV?

JWATTON085

The nexus cause it will break oil

Matthew Staufenberger

HBK vs Undertaker (Career vs Streak). I think it would be fun to go back through the desperation of hbk for one more chance and redemption.

Eric Franz

How bout the lex luger lex express from inception to the Yokozuna blow off

James Wright

How about John Cena's early WWE career to coincide with his final year, that initial floundering and then huge rise before the fans turned on him would be interesting to go back over, remind everyone of how it all went down!

Arron

DX 2006, have fun :)

James Boulton

I think it would be fun to do the death of everyone since so many people are comparing current AEW to it. You've done Bash at the Beach 2000, so maybe start from there.

Tyler Fitz

Punk vs. Cena. You’ve already covered their biggest match (MITB 2011). You can go for either of their big matches. Title vs. Title at SummerSlam 2011, their Night of Champions 2012 Classic in Boston. Even their match on Raw 2010 with the Nexus debut. With the season culminating with their Raw 2013 match with the Piledriver

Jonnathon The BBQ Nerd

The Women's Revolution. You could specifically focus on the Four Horsewoman 4-Way to the big call-up on Raw and end with either Takeover Brooklyn or Respect. Also the Debut of Kane through to the Inferno match would be fun. Another one could be the Mega Powers Exploding and you could include an epilogue of Macho Man's face turn

Ethan

I can’t recall if you guys have talked about this idea since. But I thought you’s had quite the idea back on the shield break up episode of raw. That being Monday night war style review of both WCW 2000 and WWE 2019. Understanding that this next season should only cover 5-7 months. Maybe pick a specific starting point, say post Wrestlemania WWE 2019 and then follow the corresponding month in WCW 2000. Then pick a WCW 2000 end point to correspond with WWE 2019. Could call the episodes (WWE 2019 PPV vs corresponding WCW 2000 PPV) Whatever names the PPV’s have.

Wyatt_JD

Michael Cole being horny for antlers

Amomantra94

Hangman’s rise to the top of AEW. Starting from the beginning of the company and including the top story beats in his ascent

Amomantra94

Or, failing this, do the actual things that people compare current AEW to in bad faith and show how ridiculous of a statement it is lmao

Joshua Ned

Sting vs Vampiro in WCW. Kills hot vs Dante Fox in Lucha Underground. Raven vs Cm punk in ROH.

Ryan McGowan

since a lot of people would’ve been out of the loop for this period, the “WWE is so PG” era that included Saturday Morning Slam. have fun with this one, lads

V3ngenceV1

Daniel bryan yes movement storyline leading up to mania when he won the belts

Wahab Fares

History of Bret vs Shawn or The Undertaker’s streak where you maybe cover a few matches per episode and their backstories

Coyotekid

The history of casket matches

Isaac hansel

CM Punk vs samoa joe in ROH could be interesting

Christopher Mainwaring

I’d love you cover the greatest story ever told before the bloodline story. The Mega Powers explode. I know it’s a year long story, but PPVs were only 4 a year. It be great to hear you talk about the characters of that era and the key moments that took place from Wrestlemania IV to Wrestlemania V. I personally would be interested in your thoughts on the long term story telling from then to how wrestling is booked now. Also Macho Man was one of the greatest ever.

jejedavi

I would want the rise of the man "Becky Lynch"

Stuart Tilston

How about the rise of Stone Cold Steve Austin from King of the Ring 96 to him winning the title at WM14?

Freddie Carlisle

Roman reigns’ wreslemania main events. The fall and then rise of the big dog

Kyle Leonhardt

In honor of Cena's last year, Do all of Cena vs Orton

Noah Hickey

The Fiend Bray Wyatt 1. Summerslam 2019 vs. Finn Balor 2. Hell in a Cell 2019 vs. Seth Rollins 3. Royal Rumble 2020 vs. Daniel Bryan 4. Super Showdown 2020 vs. Goldberg 5. Wrestlemania 36 Night Two vs. John Cena 6. Summerslam 2020 vs. Braun Strowman 7. TLC 2020 vs. Randy Orton 8. Wrestlemania 37 Night Two vs. Randy Orton

Louis Duckett

The Nexus from debut in June 2010 to TLC 2010 when Cena beat Barrett.

Khalid Tirawi

Have y'all ever considered doing WWE what ifs? For example, I've long been curious about what not only WWE would look like, but American pop culture had Stephanie not discovered John Cena rapping on a bus leading to his becoming a megastar?

David Daul

The invasion would have some interesting observer news notes to look back on

Romeo L

It might be too recent but Hangman vs Omega full story!

Garrett Albright

Summer of Punk in ROH or Bobby Lashley vs Mr. McMahon. Would be fun to hear them review mcmahon as ecw champ and the debut of Santino Marella

CoupDQ9race

Ciampa V Gargano would be great, they've probably had more than 7 matches at this point, though

Jonah Michael

Steen vs Generico would be amazing!!

Josh Sigmon

Keeping with the tna theme how about main event mafia?

Steven

Luke, would you consider adding a link in the description to whatever you tell Oli to watch? I'd love to watch the shows first and then listen to you guys' thoughts on it

Mr. NoFilter

Really been feeling the TNA rn so maybe the woken Matt hardy stuff or the main event mafia

George Worrall

Ric Flair WWF run in early 90’s. Gargano vs Ciampa. Crow Sting from start in late 96 to Starrcade97.

Mr Mamba

A personal pick would be Eddies rise to WWE champ start mid-late 03 till no way out 04 just to see how big the crowds pop was

Joshua Burley

Kevin Owens(Steen) vs Sami Zayn(El Generico)

Shane Canavan

Crow Sting vs the NWO (Hogan) could be fun. The birth of Crow Sting & the build to the clusterfuck that was Starcade 97. A lot of good, bad & ugly to cover

Tre Chestang

i think it would be cool if you guys looked at the womens revolution and all the stuff there that lead to the womens title coming back. that would let you guys finish off 2014 and skip around 2015 until you get to wrestlemania 32. maybe just start where aj leaves and cover the call ups before it lot of stuff there to laugh at and also enjoy

Tre Chestang

also Gargano and Ciampa would be sick too or Asuka's title reign in nxt

jethyy

The WWE nWo run in 2002 would be a good one to cover

Paul Blyth

The formation of the Bullet Club and the different phases

Kvng JC

Taz’s run from TV champion to beating Shane Douglas for the ECW title

Lerm

Aces and eights

Felixious Zheng

You could jump ahead a couple years and do the Anti-Christ of Professional Wresting (aka the best and coolest version of Jeff Hardy). Purple suit, purple face belt, SMOKING INDOORS?!

Paul Maloney

Daniel Bryan to WWE champion to see WWEs claim that this was the plan

Evan Reich

The formation of AEW would be dope, a look back at CM punk‘s career works time as well

Doc Watson

If we're looking at particular feuds, I was rewatching some older WrestleTalk Extra and I would love for you guys to go in-depth into either of my favourite periods of Shawn Michaels' career, either the 2008 feud of the year with Chris Jericho (~6 months-ish), or the events leading up to Shawn Michael's retirement in 1996-1998, featuring Bret Hart's feud, his injuries (fake or otherwise) and the NON SCREWJOB RELATED things that lead to Michaels being such a heated figure in the lead-up to his first retirement.

Owen Likes Comics

Steen/Generico or Danielson/McGuinness in ROH would be amazing. For WWE, I think a great topic could be Michaels/Jericho from 2008 or AJ's initial run in WWE (from his debut in the Rumble to winning the world title).

Chris Smith

Cena vs Rock Feud. Could be covered in WM27, Survivor Series 2011, WM28, Royal Rumble 2013 and WM29. Of course that would be a rough five months for you guys!

Pogo is here

i'd like to see you do something new ish like kenny vs hangman or swerve vs hangman but they might be to long

Harrison Wallace

The reign of terror/ the rise of Evolution is an idea but could be tough watches for you guys

Alex Frye

The DX Reunion of 06, from Vengeance 06 to New Years Revolution 07

wordlifefan9

Cena vs. Punk? Seems topical with it being Cena’s last full time year and Punk coming back. That way you’d be able to cover most of his 434 or something like that day reign as champion.

jamie glasper

How about the birth of hell in a cell at bad blood 97 and how infamous it became with foley and then how the match type died and has now been given a new lease of life with punk vs drew at bad blood. And what this could mean for the future.

Peter Siddorn

Rise of the 4 Horsewomen in NXT. Starting with NXT Takeover (Charlotte wins the NXT women's title) to NXT Respect (Bayley Banks Ironmen Match)

Mr. Samuel Scratch

Going a little outside the lines here, but what about the first season of Lucha Underground? Could do multiple episodes per podcast, since there aren't really PPVs, and I will go into the ground saying that show was ahead of its time in-terms of blending cinematic backstage with in-ring action.

BenDPB

Fantasy Booking: WWE vs AEW dream matches Prime TNA vs Prime AEW showdown Fantasy WrestleMania cards, like Prime Cena vs Prime Hogan or Prime Road Warriors vs Prime Dudleys What If… Series: What if the first WrestleMania failed? What if WCW won the Monday Night War? What if Hogan and Bischoff never went to TNA? Rebooking the Classics: Revisiting old WrestleManias and rebooking them with our own twists Faction Revivals: Reimagining DX, Four Horseman, NWO or even the Oddities, or other classic factions with today’s rosters and but making sure you try and keep the "vibes" from the originals.

Chad Gordy

Bret Hart Owen feud show the heel turn. WM build and matches.

Mark Decker

How about a deep dive into the History of Kevin & Sami...since they have such a deep history and in depth look at their beginning & rise would be cool for fans that didn't follow the indies or nxt.

Heylo

Sami never competed on the Indies, You're thinking of his good friend the retired El Generico who opened up an orphanage, that's who wrestled the Indies with Kevin Steen. Easy mistake to make though
