Howdy SWAFT Nation,

We bring good news!

You know that Patreon-exclusive WrestleTalk Extra show you know and love? We love it too. And, super weirdly, turns out the public audience are just as big fans. Luke and I were going through all WrestleTalk's best-performing videos from 2024, and there, in the Top 25, was our review of the Royal Rumble 2014.

Which we were pretty surprised by. We only popped it on the free feed back in August to promote the full Breakup of the Shield arc we did on Patreon. And now, as I'm writing this, it's done 172,325 views.

So we've had an idea: we're going to do a monthly WT Extra video on the WrestleTalk YouTube channel, in additional to your Patreon-exclusive one. Which means DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF RAMBLECHAT!

This will start in January, so we've decided not to cover the Gargano vs Ciampa feud that won the poll last month. When we looked into it, not only did we cover the story in realtime with podcast reviews. We've also covered two of the most important Takeover events on WT Extra already - so we felt we wouldn't have much more to add.

Later this month, we'll put together a playlist of all the Gargano vs Ciampa coverage we've already done for you on Patreon!

Instead, our next arc on the Road to WrestleMania, will be the four-month, eight-episode series: THE ROCK VS JOHN CENA.

Dear God, help us all.

This will look like:

JANUARY:

Youtube - Episode 1: WrestleMania 27 (Rock hosts)

Patreon - Episode 2: Survivor Series 2011 (Rock & Cena vs Awesome Truth)

FEBRUARY:

YouTube - Episode 3: WrestleMania 28 (Rock vs Cena I)

Patreon - Episode 4: Raw 1000 (Punk's heel turn on the Rock!!!)

MARCH:

YouTube - Episode 5: Royal Rumble 2013 (Punk vs Rock)

Patreon - Episode 6: Elimination Chamber (Punk vs Rock rematch)

APRIL:

YouTube - Episode 7: WrestleMania 29 (Rock vs Cena II)

Patreon - Episode 8: WrestleMania 32 (Rock's weird Erick Rowan match and he sets fire to his own name)

The first two episodes will go live on Jan 25th. Jam that Jam!

Huge win for wrestletalk. Love it !

Tommy overkill

In order to review wrestlemania 27, I’m afraid that you’re going to have to watch it. I respect your grind, thank you for your service gentlemen. The first hurdle is always the toughest, but I believe in you 👍

Charles Downend

Love it. The more content the better as far as I'm concerned gents. Thanks for all your hard work, and making me laugh out loud on my commutes, so I look like a complete pyschopath to strangers.

Kevin Fleuriot

That's pretty cool, excited for it. Will there be a Patreon version of the public YT version (with the copyrighted content visible) ? EDIT : WAIT, that means they're watching WM 28 !!! I've been pushing for this show on the old WT Extra review format

Brxdley.h

this will be great! Hopefully though the youtube videos will also be on Patreon with the content visible! Also, it’s a shame you’re not doing what won the poll! It would’ve been cool to hear an updated review and to go back and watch the storyline!

Andrew Makinson

Will everything go on the patreon podcast feed??

Bdazzle

i was like, why didn't you just go with the 2nd most voted on the poll, then i realised oh, this is when wwe was crap! those are always the best podcast content

Christopher Little

Can you cover Kevin Steen vs el Generico in ROH at some point?

Blossom

Great news guys - maybe a little close the lines but id love to know more about the best performing videos/patreon plugs (I assume MNW is up there as it go me to pledge!)

Timothy DeGrand

First episodes going live on X? What is this? WrestleTalk speed?

Gareth Jones

First to episodes live on X Cant work out if that was a placeholder or Oli just loving elon that much 🤣

Jamie Fisher

That's a great idea - always funny watching Oli and Luke lose their mind at how bad WWE was 😂 gonna be a great series 👌

TheKing101

Fantastic News! I subbed on patreon specifically for these Wrestletalk Extras series'. So so so so so glad to get more of them! Not sure about the decision to split 1 storyline across two platforms though. In the episode breakdown it looks like its going to work okay for this storyline but i am concerned about how it will work with future series. Maybe better to do two different Storylines one on Youtube and One here on Patreon. Just a Suggestion. Jam that Jam

gabriel shute

Hell yeah, more wrestletalk extra with Luke and oli, the reason I became a Patreon member!

TEi HasPants

heck yeah! I enjoyed the WT Extras on the breakup of the shield so much that I bumped up to the next tier so I could partake in the Joe v Angle series. I'm excited that I get to enjoy double the content now! My question is, will there be a patreon version of the ones that hit YouTube so we can still see the copyrighted content?

Arron

the power is back

Chris Smith

Fun fact: You guys have reviewed a show from every year between 1995 and 2018, except for 2012! That is the one year that never won a poll (for reasons I'm sure will become clear). I'm so happy to see the gap finally closed.

Ian

As somebody who wasn’t around during the NXT podcasts, when can we expect the collection to be uploaded? Super excited to listen but can’t seem to figure out YT episodes

Frank Botello

I think you can do Jeff Hardy’s 2008 run Armageddon 07 Royal Rumble 08 No Way out 08 Skip to no mercy 08 Cyber Sunday 08 Survivor series 08 And finish with Armageddon 08

Sidious2k19

That’s why I voted for Dreamer versus Raven.

Justin Campbell

I just have a quick question: will all of this still be downloadable as podcasts? Or will it just be on Youtube?

Spencer Schneider

Is it possible to keep the collections updated? It is rather hard to find uncut Survivals and things.

When you guys are ready to do another TNA arc, I suggest Gail Kim vs Awesome Kong - Impact Oct. 7 '07 (Kong's debut match) BFG 2007, Turning Point 2007, Final Resolution 2007, Impact Jan. 10 '08 (Kong wins title), Destination X 2008 Kong vs Gail vs ODB, Impact May 15 '08, Impact Aug. 21 '08 (Gail vs Kong in Gail's final match before leaving TNA)
