It feels like I’ve been waiting for this for 3 months lol

Zack Turner

Like and oli out here confirming my theory that U.S politics is just WWE written by Vince.

Homerstar

Man that comment about WWE standing up to bullying is going to be really awkward in about 2 months when they air a segment where Cena and Lawler make several fat jokes about Vickie Guerrero.

Lily Petal

Do you know how we survived 2019 Luke? We survived through 2010. And 2011. And 2012 and well you get the point. By the time we got to 2019, our tolerance level for WWE bullshit was sky high!

Daniel Pratt

As a bit of context, the rules regarding campaigning at election sites are taken extremely seriously in the US. They don’t want people wearing candidate merchandise within 50 feet of the entrance to election sites so people don’t feel intimidated to vote against those candidates. Linda being so publicly associated with WWE just made the whole thing completely muddled.

Jshawn Johnson

guys I love you I do, but British entertainment and food is garbage. Hell I'm sure you can even ask other British people that they enjoy more American entertainment then any other form.

Captain Nick

I do remember watching knucklehead with my parents and 2 siblings when it came out on dvd. We watched it after dinner and after it ended my father just said “…welp time for bed everybody.” I haven’t watched it since, please do it for the Patreon.

Mr Mamba

We want ‘Drunklehead’

Ilan Woll

As a reference, the Darien Time (Pronounced Dehr-E-uhn) is a newspaper for a city of approximately 20,000 people and of course, in Connecticut. I believe it also services some other towns, but hardly a major paper. Linda McMahon went on to lose the race by 55-43, though for Connecticut, that was a good number for a Republican in a very Republican-friendly year

Ilan Woll

Was 2010 the rise of Queer Eye? That may be the reason they made the jewelry reference

Ilan Woll

Per IMDB, worldwide gross for Knucklehead - $7927

TroyWolf1990

Luke your wrong about Kane facing Randy at Mania it's Punk vs Orton at Mania 27 in 2011. Kane vs Orton was at Mania 28 in 2012

Edward Economous

Curious to hear your thoughts on Booker T Cole and King behind the booth especally seeing as Booker is still a commentator today. Not sure if you'll see this.

Frado_C

this isn't a complaint I wanna get that in the clear but I just paused in the middle of the stand up for WWE bit and the fact we an hour and 7 minutes in and not even close to talking about the ppv is hilarious

Chris deaton

How did you not get Sacrifice right away when you love Steiner math lol and why, does Vince. always talk. Like a robot. And pause. After two. Or three. Words. lol. I did the “what” chant in my head during that.

Ieuan Hurford

I just messaged my father unprompted why i love wwe and he just hit me with a '👍' 😂

Hurf Himself

2019 was the first time I stopped watching. I was still on board for the first quarter of the year because I was super into the becky stuff, but week to week, the worst television I've ever watched

DennyDorko

This PPV occurred during a *long* hiatus from watching wrestling, so this whole "Stand Up for WWE" thing is blowing my mind. I have heard it referenced a few times before, but I can't wrap my head around it being a real thing they did.

Andrew

I can't be the only one that wants a full podcast episode reviewing ALL of the Stand Up For WWE stuff, right?

Sunfire

35:00 in the US you can not wear any political clothing to the polls. no hats, no shirts, etc. it is considered "political activity at or near the polls" and is electioneering

Mark Fawcett

I think you should do a Wrestletalk Cut Scene cross over of WWE Studios films

Brandon

just so you guys know for that "not allowed to wear WWE T-shirts to vote" thing, it is illegal for a person in the US to be in a polling center while wearing campaign slogans and merch for a specific candidate. the idea is that if for example you were voting and surrounded by people wearing the merch of a particular candidate it would influence you either out of peer pressure or fear to vote for that specific candidate and they want the centers to be as neutral as possible. the idea was likely that since the McMahanon is so connected to WWE that WWE merch would act the same way, making someone think of Linda more then other candidates in the moment as such making them more likely to vote for her.

Mr. Samuel Scratch

You can't ever forget: Vince McMahon has the mind of a 1950s schoolyard bully in the body of a 60 year old sexpest.

Lex Sells Merch

Thanks for reminding me about that game 6 six loss to the Giants in the 2010 NLCS. Cody Ross just taking over that series offensively still haunts me. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go have a long cry session with my blahaj.

Andrew Hanks

Yes to Knucklehead!! 4 hour cutscene style 😂

Max

I can’t wait for the next series when they do Aces and Eights and the sub story is Claire Lynch.

Joseph

Very funny you guys are talking about family members who just disappeared because I am someone who did that! Mainly because I grew up in multiple abusive homes. I just disappeared. I'm engaged now and trying to make the best of life, I'm quite young, but I'll get there. Anyway, Stand Up For WWE 💔

mike wolfe

"The benefit is in the groin." Wasn't really expecting to hear that but hey, I'm not saying I disagree.

That Welsh Guy

I'd forgotten how little sense the tag title stuff makes. Why make Otunga take the pin the next night on Raw? Surely the point of having Cena in the Nexus is to make him eat shit for them

Brxdley.h

can we finally do my request that won the poll originally and do the NXT DIY saga 🙂‍↕️😭

Owen

I may be the only person on earth that enjoyed Knucklehead

Glenn Dallas

The Darien Times was a newspaper in Darien, CT. I guarantee you MOST of those articles were written in local CT newspapers, because who the hell else would care about WWE and Linda McMahon's CT-based campaign. As a CT resident, it was a big deal that she was running, and her back-to-back failures were glorious.

Dwayne Cooley

Kane actually faced the Corre to win the tag titles with the Big Show. He faces Randy at the following Wrestlmania after that.

DustyMill

Edge has said that he wanted his name to basically sound important and have something special when being announced like how when you think of Cena and Justin Roberts you probably think of Roberts yelling Joooooaaaaaaawwwwwwwnnnn Ceeeeeeeeena. Edge wanted something for himself so Chimel did the voice crack

Robert Hedley

Really excited for Drunklehead, and it's inevitable follow up 12 rounds, of shots

Josh Conwell

Yes to the Knucklehead special

Jamaal Ellison

In a different era people would be debating whether or not those Vince McMahon stand up for WWE promos were real or AI generated.

Mr. Samuel Scratch

I wish I could have been there to see the McMahons fail yet again in-person. It must have been so lovely.

Lawson Douvier

“Staunch on the right to vote” unless you are a felon. Or in an extremely gerrymandered area. Or forgot to register to vote.

Mr. Samuel Scratch

I think the fact that Linda failed and Vince continually hemmorraged ratings is indicative of how effective the "piano playing lecture to camera" was at the time. I will warn: for as careful as Oli is around humor centering on "the r-word," Knucklehead was originally written to star Eugene. And you. Can. Really tell.

Finlay Hewitt

Was the James Storm/ Ric Flair comment foreshadowing??

Vault-Tec Doormamu

For the record, the thing about clothing and voting is probably related to the fact that you’re not allowed to electioneer inside a polling place. The idea was probably that since WWE has been pushed so much that Linda is backed by WWE, that it could be considered electioneering. Clearly it didn’t work, but that was probably the thinking.

darth Jmarks

11 minute mark Luke predicts wrestlepaloza

Dogboy369

How have we not done drunklehead yet? Doesn't sound like you all are trying to stand up for the WWE. lol. Jam that Jam.

Jordan Robertshaw-Jowett

36:05 there are some pretty Byzantine rules both in the USA and the UK that are designed to prevent "Political Uniforms," and while the rules end up being a little silly because this is such a hard thing to legislate, they're there for a good reason. What those rules are designed to stop, is crowds of menacing looking guys hanging around polling stations wearing the modern equivalent of Blackshirts or Brownshirts, intimidating people into voting one way. An example of this for the UK, is that on polling day, it's illegal to wear a rosette unless you are a candidate or a campaign manager, not even other campaign staffers get to wear one. In this case it's obviously led to a silly result, but the aim is understandable - if a right wing candidate was part-owner of a company that is themed around violence, and the voters for that candidate were hanging around wearing what appeared to be a uniform with violent imagery on it (barbed wire, etc.) it might not look toooooo many steps away from Blackshirts for some people, especially those unfamiliar with the WWE. 🩷

Dustin Cunningham

You can't campaign for a candidate within a mile of a voting place in America, they likely saw people wearing WWE merch as "campaigning" for Linda given her connection to the company, a bit dumb if you ask me, but likely the thinking.
