The switch 45 is a technique for scoring quick blitzes in point fighting competition, yet Calvin Kattar was able to adapt it into a twenty five minute refusal to let Giga Chikadze show his body kick.

How do you make these little graphics?

Nasty way to set up that step up side kick from the rear leg.

I always felt like the Pep step worked best for me in sparring when my back was close to the wall/cage. Since guys are so willing to chase there, I would shuffle left before planting and coming back with the left straight to run them onto it.

This was great, if articles being shorter means we get more of them I'm here for it

Wow. I do this all the time and it works 100%. Well done

Funny coincidence: I was just earlier this week wondering how to switch stances while stepping towards the opponent in Thrill of the Fight and got ko'd for trying it the first time for stepping in too directly I suppose. I'll try that little side step next time.

There's an essentially identical move in karate in the lunge punch (sans initial sidestep) wherein a strike comes from the intial rear side while the leg rushes forward simultaneously. Unfortunately it's only really used in katas or the spergy kyoskushin bodyshots-only blitz. Nonetheless, it's still interesting to see the same concept be found from way back and crop up again in modern MMA (to any mainstream degree, so to speak).

Is there a way these can be made into videos with footage for us visual learners…..would be so sweet
