After hearing Slacky describe the "triangle kick" multiple times and still having no idea what it actually looked like, I finally looked it up - and is it basically just a round kick that's aimed under the elbow?? I think I've seen multiple people like Joseph Valtellini and Gabriel Varga cover this a few times, so it might be something different, as Jack described it as being pretty limited to the Japanese kickboxing scene. Back when I did TKD, one of my schools taught 2 variations of roundhouse kick: a "turning kick," which was basically a roundhouse with a full pivot on the back foot, and a different roundhouse where you only turned the pivot foot to about a 45 degree angle (we usually just called the kick a "45") - the former being quicker and typically aimed at the midsection, with the latter being slower, higher, and more powerful. In sparring, the 45 was usually most people's go to move for simpicity/speed sake (and in my case, because I had terrible hip flexibility), so I'm wondering if this is the same thing. All that to say - I feel like I see this all the time in mma, am I just misunderstanding?

Hoping to hear you talk about Petchmorakot vs Tawanchai

I would love a 30 years world podcast, but understand how much research, that shit is. Daniele Bolelli is a full time historian and still takes him a month to make an hour long podcast.

A 30 years war history podcast would be fantastic

I wish I had access to the secret euro anti boner techniques as a young teen here in the US

From my background we referred to the triangle kick based on the ball of the foot driving up into torso. Very similar to a round kick , but with a slight upward trajectory.

really really looking forward to future grappling series

Absolutely loved the long section on southpaw boxing technique, it’s almost impossible to find stuff beyond the basic “foot outside, left hand up the center”

Harvey Cudmore

The thirty years war podcast would be awesome. Also do you recommend any books on the topic?

Hm.

The bridging off the fence thing you talked about was attempted by Michael Johnson from the bottom of mounted crucifix in his fight against Khabib (around like 2:50 of rd 3 if I rmr right). Khabib dealt with it basically by turning himself into a wedge that forced Johnson into a corkscrew maneuver from the elevated angle and not so much a bridge over his shoulder anymore. The inversion thing you talked about was done by Eddie Alvarez against Conor. I do not have the round and time in my memory for that one, unfortunately, but Eddy inverted against the fence and used his entire lower body as a kind of shield for his face against Conor's blows after being dropped. Was smart thinking tbh. Funny that both of those things happened on the same event, now that I think of it.
