If you go back and watch that fight, not much happens at all in general. People remember it as a Merab blowout, but it was closer to a stalemate where Merab had cage control. Didn't take Jose down once. Didn't land anything of significance at fucking all. Just sort of neutralized Aldo's offense and threw his ineffectual shitty hooks. Essentially a shit tier at elevation version of what Volk did to Aldo in Brazil.

Yes. That doesn't have anything to do with my point here, which is that he didn't gas out. Aldo's skillset, even in washed age, is kind of nightmarish for Merab, esp pre-Yan Merab. At sea level, that fight goes like that. All i said was that he didn't gas out. Unless you're implying that the fight happened how it did bc he got tired, which I think is wrong, then you're not really responding to what I said as much as adding a true but unnecessary line onto it.

He didn't get better as the fight went on. He just threw more is all. Like the surprise to me rewatching that fight a month or so ago was that it wasn't as big a blow out as I remember based on the commentary reaction. Watching it again, it was basically Merab eking out three rounds on volume attempts, not volume success.
