Art update 05-20 (Patreon)

Hey friends!

I'd like to give you some insights into my recent activity and what I'm working on. I'm currently trying to handle multiple tasks at once - I'm going to got to Portugal for 2 weeks from May 30 on, and that means a lot of deadlines are scheduled for the week before.

Displate Nifties

My biggest commission right now is for the Displate Nifties project. Displate is going to make a special NFT-and-Print drop with some crazy cool prints. They asked me to be one of their first artists to drop something, which is great. I came up with two environmental scenes (one indoor, one outdoor). I want them to be super-detailed - we'll see where it goes. I also streamed some process for that city view on Youtube: https://youtu.be/eLUu82gHovQ

Speaking of streaming...

I've been thinking about the whole streaming & video-content thing a lot lately. I found it very hard to decide between YouTube and Twitch, they both have their pro's and con's. I tend to be a bit chaotic when it comes to focus on a clear social media strategy, as I love experimenting too much.

Twitch kind of took the decision from me now though, as there's been certain developments pushed by Amazon lately that make me want to transition to YT now. Amazon clearly wants to squeeze more money out of Twitch and tbh, I don't want to show more ads in my streams, or get even less paid from subscriptions. I don't stream for the money, but it's your money that goes into the subscriptions and that you want to support me with. Amazon gets 50% of that though and that is just too much.

So for financial support, Patreon is much better. And I can give supporters back much more. And I can build my YT channel, even though it may be hard work cause I have to build it from scratch now.

Cannes Lions

Let's have a quick peek into another commission I'm working on. Artbox, an illustration agency from Amsterdam that is representing me, are hosting a get-together in a Villa during the Cannes Lions festival. They asked me to design & illustrate the invitation for all the agency CEOs and creatives. Well, a Villa? With many people having a good time? Sounds like an isometric artwork! :D I'm currently on it, have a look at the WIP above. I'll show you once it's finished!

All in all, isometric artworks are absolutely sought-after right now and I feel like there's a new trend for isometric art. It's crazy how many requests I get for these - I'm not taking too many commissions for these though, as I want my isometric projects to stay special.

Three Investigators / Sony

Last but not least, I'm currently in the finishing phase of an animated piece for Sony Music, who asked me to create a modern remake of a classic cover of "Three Investigators" by Alfred Hitchcock. The series is super popular in Germany, so I was happy to join the project. I can't share anything right now, but hopefully soon! :)

Coming up on Patreon

I asked around on Insta what my followers were interested in regarding new learning content. I'd like to make some more new videos to post on YT, but I'd also like to add some special content for you Patrons. So far it's been PSD files, longer process videos, etc. If there is anything that you'd also like to get, please let me know! I'm also thinking about posting "basic" tutorials on YT and then going more into details Patreon exclusively.

Also I'd like to record my next critique club session next week, so Gold members please drop your artworks, questions etc. :)
