Art Update 07-01 / Final DTIYS artwork & more (Patreon)
Content
Good Friday everyone!
A new month is here, so thanks so much to supporters sticking with me in July! I again have something nice for you, telling you more below. 🤗
It's been a hot and sweaty week here in Münster and I'm glad about tonight's thunderstorm and heavy rain. Makes it easier to create art today. Here's what's up:
DTIYS #plastic49k
I've finished my artwork for the next DTIYS challenge. It will officially start next week (mayb on tuesday). You can exclusively see it here now though, so if you want, go ahead and start drawing your version. The rules are simple: Just re-create this character in your style - however you want, as long as it's recognizably this character!
If you'd like to re-watch me making this live, have a look at my first stream and second stream on Youtube.
New untitled artwork
Before I start into making art for clients next weeks, I wanted to play around with my style a bit this week. So I started this piece showing a nice door (inspired by Bruxelles architecture). It's supposed to be even more clearly influenced by the "Ligne Claire" style as my work anyway is. It's a visuality that I grew up with and that today are my earliest artistic influences, from reading comics like Asterix, Lucky Lucky, Tintin, etc. I'll show you the final piece next week! (if it looks good 😅)
Stickers!
Patrons, please check your Patreon inbox to send me your details so I can send you your stickers. The first 11 packs go out today already. Hope they arrive in your mailboxes fast!
The Plastic Playground Brushes
The last news for today are about brushes. I'm having more and more fun creating these. I also feel like I'm getting better in understanding more in-depth brush mechanics. Just yesterday I saw that the Plastic Brush Pack hit 10.000 USD in sales since I released them ~2 years ago, which is amazing! Shows that selling brushes can become an important passive income pillar for freelance artists.
For that reason, I experimented with some ideas I had in the last weeks. The results are 12 new brushes in my Playground Pack Vol. 2. The official release will be on Monday, and now the cool news: I decided to make them forever free for Patrons of any tier. 😎 I think it's a nice bonus for Patrons. I will also work on Photoshop/*abr versions, so non-Procreate-users can try them out.
If you already got the Vol. 1 and tipped me more than 3€, you will also get Vol. 2. Everyone who got Vol. 1 for free will no have longer access to any files as I decided to not make them "pay-what-you-want" anymore. I'll send around updates through Gumroad with more details!
That's it guys, now I'll quickly record the critique club for June 👀
Have a fantastic weekend!- Stefan
