Hey dear Patrons,

a bit later than planned, but here's the second part of my Adidas Ultraboost project insights! 👟⚡ If you missed part 1, here you go!

5 Limited Editions

Last time I showed you the artwork that was meant to become a poster for the customers who got the Ultraboost Light, but that was cancelled in the last second. Instead, this one here, showing the two very limited colorways Triple Red & 10y anniversary Black, was used as a poster print.

I first wanted to go with a filled background or "clean cut" direction, you can see the concepts below, before we went with that "portal" idea. I still like the simple layout in this!

6 Ultraboost Collabs

In the history of the Ultraboost shoe, there have been several collabs with designers. This artwork features three of these models, by KITH/Ronnie Fieg, Y-3/Yohji Yamamoto and Hypebeast. There's little hints to the features and stories of every shoe in there, like the number 10 as a reference to Zinedine Zidane, who was the face of the Y-3 campaign.

7 & 8 Jessie Zapo & Kwasi Kessie

The last two pieces feature each one of Adidas' running influencers. Jessie & Kwasi lead runner groups in New York City, and are portrayed in the mag with a short interview.

I always find it a special task to portray real people. Everyone has certain expectations about how they want to be represented in photos or illustrations. That's why I usually only work with made up characters 😄. The challenge here was to not only show Jessie & Kwasi in the right way, but to also include aspects of their personality in the artworks.

For Jessie, I put a focus on her tattoos and added color splashes, as she's an artist herself. I also added that graffiti of her Girl's Run NYC group in there. And I gave Kwasi a typical Harlem scene background for his origin, and added that big wolf representing his own fashion brand.

That's it! I hope you liked what I did for this project - definitely one of the biggest commercial art projects I had so far. I'm glad I had the opportunity to work with Adidas a second time, on the side of Checkland Kindleysides agency.

Cheers!Stefan
