Lines. Art & Coloring Book / Official Announcement! (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

today I've got a big announcement: about a new personal project, and what to expect here on Patreon in the coming weeks! Here's the facts:

Lines?

Yep, Lines! 😊 I've decided to re-animate an idea I put on hold a while back, and finally make my own coloring book! For years I wanted to release an art book, and I had the idea to add even more fun to it than just pages with artworks.

Lines is not only going to be a book with a selection of coloring pages though. It will also feature some coloring tutorials and insights into my personal process - with a focus on colors. Over the years coloring has been the most frequently asked group of themes, so I thought a whole book about this topic would pay tribute to that.

Also, looking at the market of adult coloring books, there's a really big pile of boring stuff around. I thought it would be time to offer an alternative to drawing flowers and animals. The book will eventually become a Kickstarter project, to fund the printing costs. This will be my first ever Kickstarter!

What will happen on Patreon?

While working on the book, I will keep you updated about the process here on Patreon inside a live making-of. Over the next 10-12 weeks, I want to build up a series of articles including:

Exclusive insights into my book-making process (finding ideas, setting up the content, layouting etc.), as well as social media strategies and more - learn how I set up this project from the very start!

Coloring tutorials (you will have early access to the tutorials that will later be inside the book)

Polls on decisions around the book - I'd love to get your opinion and votes on some choices, such as the cover design.

Additional Patron benefits: Patrons will get the digital version of the book when it's finished. I'm also looking into exclusive/discounted Kickstarter rewards for Patrons. Additionally, I'd like to reward long term Patrons/yearly subscribers (yearly subs is brand new to my Patreon btw) with a free printed copy.

Active Patrons during this time will be mentioned as supporters in the book.

What's the timeline?

The Kickstarter is planned to go live around mid-late September. This is an ambitious goal and the doability depends on some factors like my freelance workload in the next weeks. I want to try going live around that time though.

The Kickstarter has a runtime of around 30 days. With the Kickstarter hopefully ending successfully around late October, I want to have the book ready for printing. My goal is to ship the books so that they easily arrive for Christmas in everyone's mailbox.

In the first insights post later this week, I will take a look at the most important to-dos and refer a little about how to even start such a project without losing your head 😄
