Plastober 2023 - The Prompt List (Patreon)
Content
The Plastober 2023 Prompt List is here!
Plastober is my personal Inktober prompt list, and we're already going into the fourth year! How does it work? Creatives from all disciplines are invited to submit a piece of art every day throughout the month of October. It's a community event that exists to improve your skills, connect to other creatives and take a fun challenge.
Plastober has a couple extras: There are off days, to catch up on prompts and plan ahead. And there's weekly topics that you can use for your inspiration in any way you like.
The Rules
The most important rule is: just have fun! Start making art, no matter what tools you use: digital, traditional, photography, AI, etc.!
Do as many days as you can and like! Try to make each of them, or do one every second or third day. You can also just draw the weekly prompts. You don’t have to stick to the prompts too close and can interpret them freely. Please use the hashtags #plastober & #plastober23 if you want your drawings to be shared on Instagram. There will also be a giveaway at the end, with books from my current Kickstarter :)
I’m very excited about your submissions, and super happy about everyone deciding to join!
Weekly Prompts
How do the weekly topics work? You can choose to use these as a main theme for the weeks. You don’t need to, the weekly topics are meant to give you a bit more input, ideas and inspiration.
Another thing you can do is connecting the prompts of each week to a story (like each day is a comic panel, there’s a reoccuring element, etc.) I find this very helpful for increasing your storytelling skills.
Week 1: Opposite Hues
Let‘s start with some color experiments! For each of this week‘s prompts, use a complementary color palette! (two colors on the opposite side of the color wheel)
Week 2: Hollywood Compositions
Do you have a favorite movie you didn‘t watch in a long time? On the first day, watch it again, and take shots from scenes fitting to the prompts of this week. You can also take shots you like and alter/reimagine them with the prompts in mind. Take the scenes as references for this week‘s artworks! You decide how close you stay to the originals!
Week 3: The Epic Quest
It‘s story time! Connect the prompts of this week to a hero‘s quest! You could add a reoccurring element or character to connect the days. Make them somehow part of the same world! Or you imagine a whole story where all the prompts somehow come together from start to finish!
Week 4: Retro Revival
Add something retro to your artworks this week! You could either experiment with retro art styles, or objects/characters/elements from back then. Another option is adding nostalgic elements or vibes to your pieces, or play with retro-futurism - as long as you do some time travelling!
Let me know any questions any time!
