Sussy Bottom Boys

So, because I have apparently chosen to have the role of explaining things that I think are confusing, I'll explain clones and the importance of Shadow Clone Jutsu. Shadow Clone Jutsu is said to be a forbidden but we see a ton of people use it, so how is it forbidden, and how rare is it? Normal Clone Jutsu: Is just an illusion; you only use enough chakra to make them appear and do things but they can't attack or touch anything. As well, as soon as it takes any damage, it's destroyed. It's just a distraction, that's all. (In the series this gets confusing because we'll see people do something physical, get hit, then say "nuh-uh, it was my clone", but that's just narrative convenience. What's actually happening in those moments is that the person dodges and replaces themselves with a clone faster than we can see.) Shadow Clone Jutsu: Is considered forbidden because of how dangerous it is. You typically need to be a Jonin (Kakashi's rank. The guys with the neat jackets.) in order to safely do it, and even then they don't tend to make more than one. The benefit over a normal clone is that it's physical. With a Shadow Clone (And other elemental clones) you can have them fight for you and even use your techniques and such. The reason for this is that to make a Shadow Clone you split your chakra evenly amongst however many you make, make one clone and both you and the clone have half your chakra, three is a third, and so on. This can kill you. THAT'S why it's forbidden. But when your clone is destroyed, your chakra comes back to you. Ebisu and Kakashi can do multiple because they're extremely skilled. Naruto can do it and do so many because he unconsciously uses the Nine-Tailed Fox's chakra as a pool. So even if it's cut into fractions of a million it's still far more than enough relative to a Genin. Other Elemental Clone Jutsu: Zabuza made Mist Clones, Gaara makes Sand Clones, and you see a ton of other ones throughout the series. These are infinitely less dangerous because you don't make the entire clone out of chakra. You use a material. So it cuts down on the amount used and makes it safer. However, using a material means that it's generally weaker than a Shadow Clone would be.

Yeah, Jiraiya's cool. They don't do too much with his perv thing. He's like this series' Whitebeard and Rayleigh.

Naruto has always been a hasty kid. Despite telling Konohamaru there's no shortcuts to becoming hokage, Naruto himself isn't great at fundamentals and really has gotten by on unique solutions and learning a high ranking jutsu in secret. It's kind of like how Luffy had a devil fruit before entering the grand line, it's a leg up on the competition, but doesn't replace training. Although in Luffy's case we know he trained hard to make the most of his power before the series began.
