"Pep talk" (Patreon)

I needed a pep talk yesterday from my wife Alex after expressing some misgivings about the new "Dansels in Distress" series. It's difficult for me to go into these illustrations with the intent of expressing sexism, even if that sexism is reversed.

I wonder if that hesitation would be there if it weren't reversed?

I had been thinking out loud about how, perhaps instead of the direction I had been taking things we saw these women with real relationships with these men. Alex quickly sorted me out.

Part of why this all feels unnatural is because it is unnatural. People are complex, as are their relationships with other - yet many of us grow up seeing women as trophies to be won, or less. Seeing the inverse of that confronts a sadly standard expectation to see sexualized women in subservient roles.

Anyway. The new barbarian lady is modeled after Conan. Very tan. Dark hair. Intense muscles. Yadda yadda... ~_o
