Wow. I just read over my post announcing the decision to leave my day job. Sounds like a LiveJournal entry from 2004. I'm glad y'all are patient with me.

My last day in the office is 9-15-17

That's this Friday and frankly it's bittersweet. Contrary to what a lot of folks might assume I've always loved my day job. I'm gonna miss many if not all of the people I've worked with. It was time to go, so I'm going.

What's next?

Essentially my status is going to change from being purely a cartoonist to a cartoonist, freelance artist, creative consultant, and possibly community outreach educator/organizer.

Monday is my official first day and I have to hit the ground running with my first client Teena Fitzroy who you may remember from Unstoppable.

We're working to have not only that comic printed in full color but we're including an additional page, that doubles as a coloring book insert. We'll need to create GoFundMe to help with the cost of it but my hope is that can be done relatively quickly. Teena is capital A Anxious to get started.

That same day I'm meeting with the Rochester Oratorio Society to discuss potential projects with them. They're doing this awesome tribute to Amy Beach. I have a lot of homework to do, not only studying Amy but they're mission, board, objectives etc.

I'm also going to be spending some time applying to local grants. Which sounds, thrilling. But that's another notch in the ol' belt I need to get good at making. I have an Oct 19th deadline so I'm not too worried? just yet? but the pressure is on.

Beyond that (and during) I'm going to be working to re-brand my social media pages. A lot of the focus there will be directing folks to my Patreon, but it's something I just need to do and get out of the way moving into 2018. That, and spruce up my website to serve as better portfolio for potential clients (boooooring)

The More Fun Stuff:

I was actually quite content with the posting schedule I had established prior to my vacation so y'all can definitely expect to see more NBNerdyFeels in the very near future. Additionally I'm going to be posting the first episode of The Oankali Talks later this week (if Patreon can handle the large file?)

Production on Dragon Sword has begun. And ho boy.
Hooooooo boy.
Hoooooohohohohohohoohaahahawhahhahahaaaaaaaaa.

It's a doozy.

Thank you for reading if you've made it this far. I'll be posting more soon. The image that went along with this post is some fanart/tribute to Alexis Sergio who makes a comic called "Wish" about a Latinx trans superhero. I love following Alexis on Twitter, you should too! ^_^
