I got diagnosed. (Patreon)

A lot of people who know me personally might be confused by this. I was diagnosed when I was nine, again at nineteen, and finally once more at twenty nine.
Interesting that. Don't you think? 9, 19, 29? 999?
I actually had no intention of being diagnosed with AD/HD every ten years. But I found myself struggling terribly and finding some answers in the pages of Edward Hallowell's books.
Back in the 90s everyone was getting diagnosed and the first order of business was Ritalin. Ritlalin is a pretty intense mind-altering drug. I was on it from 9 to 19.
When I stopped taking Ritalin in college I felt...
...and yeah I'm very obviously missing some genitals there. I was going through a bit of a transgender identity crisis at the time?
Anyway. I am about to test the waters of Medication & Therapy, with the hope of weening myself off the meds.
It took me six months to track down an actual specialist in Rochester with the wherewithal to recognize AD/HD when he saw it. Most everyone else chalked my state up to Anxiety and Depression. Which are both things that get much worse when AD/HD isn't treated properly.
Honestly it's something that I'm not proud of having. And yet? without my AD/HD I doubt I'd have had so much fun over the years. From what I understand it allegedly falls on the Autism Spectrum.
Whatever. Here's a nifty video about it all.
Point is. I think moving to Freelance Art makes a lot of sense for me. Even though I am in a constant state of terror about it?
And I think pursuing help makes a lot of sense too.
...even though money is a thing, I do not have in great abundance.
