Discharged (Patreon)
Content
Let's make this a list, because lists make things easier!
1) I am in excellent health, mentally and physically.
2) My official discharge was in June, some time ago.
3) The process of my therapy being cut off has been—very painful—and that's why I haven't been as present. Online, and in person/socially.
4) Accepting that this ending, and not a triumphant ending where I complete my Trauma Therapy to my satisfaction, is the best conclusion for this book because it's by far more authentic to the American experience? That was tough. But I have.
5) This was an incredibly difficult cartoon to draw (emotionally speaking) and ultimately I couldn't stop thinking about you and all people living in The United States bleeding dry right now. And. When The US Goddess of Medicine says "You're done with therapy now," you don't argue. There is no arguing.
6) Adobe Photoshop unexpectedly quit three times while I made this piece. And eventually the only way I could get through drawing our US capitalist hellscape was by listening to "A Christmas Festival" with Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops. Fitting. Right?
