In 2024 I began painting an army of Orcs that loved Trans people and it was just that simple. I had no thoughts or plans beyond this.

So when they turned out to be MASSIVELY popular on Tumblr I immediately saw dollar signs and suddenly I was working out how to digitize the existing paintings...

...It never occurred to me to work smaller and scan smaller paintings. I felt I had to use the very paintings that proved popular. Even though I can recreate each painting with my eyes closed. I had tunnel vision. And I began to crash out because digitizing VERY LARGE paintings is incredibly difficult. I do believe I hurt people's feelings, people who offered to help me. But I don't know. I was too busy spiraling.

It took me a year to not only digitize the paintings. But to make prints. Prints that I have never once made available to purchase online.

The irony of ironies is that the paintings AREN'T popular OFFLINE. People like them absolutely, but they're not as impactful. I don't know what else to say, I gave my local scene first dibs on the prints and have sold maybe 5 or 6.

Long story short. I made miserable a thing of joy. Over money.

So now I'm back to painting my Orcs only just for myself. And they're BIG paintings and the plan now is to find a room. Find a room and fill it up with my Orcs. Once I'm satisfied with the number of paintings I have.

I am back. I am back into the process of creation for my own self. And I wish I had come to this conclusion much sooner. Better late than never.

Thanks for reading.

A big room of trans supportive orcs sounds amazing and makes me feel gleeful to think about! I'm glad you came to that place <3

It's very difficult to turn ones back on dollar signs. Make art for you.

SO. DIFFICULT.

Some people don't get it until they see five of them!
