Elven Club Comics (Patreon)

When I was in the 4th grade my friends and I had a fantasy club called The Elven Club. My only other point of reference when it came to fantasy games at all was Realmz and "Prince of Destruction" both old Macintosh RPG games.
Most of my "clubs" were actually a way for my manipulative 4th grade self of keeping (or rather, bullying) my friends in line. That aside, Elven club provided a much needed means of talking about fantasy all day. Very loose structure, lots of fun.
Ironically when we changed schools and made new friends in the 7th grade, it was the Dungeons and Dragons crew that had massive sticks up their butts. All of a sudden everything had rules, rules that we were (apparently) breaking. The way some of them went on, you'd have thought we'd been caught defiling a sacred relic.
This would leave a bad taste in my mouth regarding D&D for years to come.
Fast forward to last year and I found myself wanting to DM again, but without being bogged down by D&D mechanics. I'd been studying a new system "Fate Core" by Evil Hat Productions. It looked like a promising alternative but the manual wasn't written nearly as well as the D&D 5e handbook.
This year (yesterday) I went Dr. Frakenstein and MERGED aspects I liked from both gaming platforms. Except now I can't stop doodling this character I made "Critus" from the 4th grade.
