You Patrons! <3 (Patreon)

So you're looking at my 3RD commission from a friend this year. This is Ticho and his partner Kuro! I was completely honored when he asked me to draw a couples portrait as an anniversary present.

I'm actually stealing that idea and doing a portrait of my Alex and I later on this year since - holy crap - this is a really romantic/cute idea! omg! O_O

But I want to stress that Ticho is a friend and Patron.

This is the 3rd time this year I've gotten a commission from a friend who is also supporting me on Patreon. This year I've gotten commissions from Ticho, Nathaniel, and Kaz. And I'm also getting editorial assistance from Alli who has been a friend and ally since my brief stint at EveryDay Feminism - AND who rocks? like is a rock star?

My point is that my gratitude is completely overwhelming. This year has been a truly surreal struggle. In many ways I have achieved my life's goal. I am able to live at home as a working artist in part because of my artwork. But the reality is that I simply could not do this without the help of friends and family. You have carried me.

My suffering from Depression, Anxiety, and Gender Dysphoria has not made my process easy. Some days I feel like I'm just a giant crybaby imposter. But gradually through the process of Meditation and Self Compassion I mostly feel that it's OK to have complex and difficult feelings, it's OK to be crippled by them at times, and it's ALSO ok when those difficult times subside and you get to enjoy the fruits of your (12 years and counting) artistic labor!
